I was wondering what is worth saving from the crusher off this 64 Olds? Any help is appreciated.

    Thanks,
    -Mike

I could use the left outside rear view mirror if it is there and good.

That's a 394 motor. Somebody should want it.

  4. not only a 394 but a high comp 394 should be a 10.5 motor

How much for the motor? Very interested in it. Also, there's a guy on the HAMB right now looking for a transmission for a 63 Caddy. Don't know if the Olds Slim Jim is the same as the Caddy, but if it is here's the link to his post.

I don't think Cad ever used the slim jim. It was Olds only as I recall. Someone may want the complete rear axle ass'y. too.

I would guess the car may run. It has an insurance sticker on the window. I'm guessing it got rear ended, and the insurance co totaled the car, and sold it to the junkyard.

It seemed to be a really nice car, with roll and tuck interior, and it had an air bag suspension on it. Someone had some money in it.

I had a stock '63 Pontiac with a slim jim. (if I remember right). Should be plenty of good parts on a '64 Olds.

If that motor is red it is the high compression version. I built the motor for my rpu project from the same block. Save that motor, let them keep the transmission. Rear end is gasser material, might even be a rare posi.

Someone somewhere is looking for a lot of parts off of that one, like trim, etc.

slim jim is in short wheel base cars as catalina ,grand prix, olds 88,wildcat,
if you are on junkyard looking for posi rearend.gm put a red sticker inside glove box limeted slip oil only.

  13. Looks like that motor was painted. Even the 2BBL version had the high compression, still a good find all in 1 piece. The bumpers are worth their weight in gold, but those look crunched.

Every piece you can remove is worth saving. Somebody needs it

I am willing to help anyone who needs parts. I would rather see someone use the parts, then see them get crushed and turned into a honda.

  19. Slim Jim was Pontiac and Olds only; from what I can gather all Olds got them where only the shorter wheelbase Pontiacs did.

The factory air stuff is probably worth something to the right guy. That whole dash assembly will unbolt out of the car. Stuff like trim across the hood front and deck lid edge is tough to find. There's not much repop anything for this car.

What rustynewyorker says plus the rear may be a 3.42 posi like most if not all Starfires got. All 64 super 88's got the 330 hp 394.

1950 Mercury,I've got an idea for you. Why don't you see if you can buy this car from the junkman. If you can buy it for less than $1000 or so. Then tow it home to your garage and start taking it apart. Photograph each part and e-bay it. You won't believe the money you can make.

Hey Mike, that grill looks like a nice piece. Nice find dude. Looks like a good one to buy if you can swing it. Good Luck pal. ~sololobo~

  26. My first car was a '64 Olds Dynamic 88. Same color with 394 and a posi rear. Looking at the photos brings back memories. I'd love to have that 394 for my truck. There's alot of good parts on there. It's too nice to be crushed just yet.

It's hard to tell from the pics, but how are the rear quarters? I have a friend with a '64 who's looking for some patches or whole quarters.
