flathead block advice please

    Hi guys i have an 50 8BA,i am changing out the head gaskets and found this,what looks like a crack between the bolt hole and the water jacket hole,how bad is this? is it something to worry about? would this crack cause water in the oil or anything like that?..thanks guys.

    That crack is OK. Use plenty of sealer on that bolt or stud, be gentle when pulling on the torque wrench, and try to keep it cool.

    thanks don,will do,i have read that these cracks are common.It has never ran hot ever.

    Normal crack. use thread sealer and you're good to go. Drive........
     

  5. I've had one in the same place for the last three seasons with no problems. I've not added coolant yet. Take Don's advice. tim
