    i think for 241,260 and 270 ci the engine mount on the frame is different to 277 ci
    and my question is
    where is the engine mount on the frame of the straight six?

    I will have to look that up. I know that the flat head six motors mount from the front with a braket that bolts on front of engine. the rear of the flywheel cover or the heavy cast iron house between engine and trans has mounts on each side. The front springs will be differnt also( because of less weight). If yours is a 277 ci. I seem to remember that that is the Ply. only engine.

    Hey, thanks for the concrete cleaner idea, I"ll give it a try. Wouldn't have thought of that, but it makes sense.

    This is a picture of a buddies frame. The long tabs with the 3 holes in them are the v/8 mounts. Those tabs are not on the 6 cyl frame at all. Just in front of those tabs in the cross member are pairs of holes. Those pairs of holes are the 6 cyl mounts. There's a U shaped bar that attaches to those holes and goes up and under the water pump.

    Not sure I can explain this and since my engine is in, not sure I can get a picture.
    To convert my 6 cyl car. I got a v/8 chassis and cut two pieces out of the crossmember. I cut way more than I needed and them trimmed them down. I cut top of the cross member out including the 6 cyl mount holes and the v/8 tabs all as one piece. Then I layed the new piece over the 6 cyl mount holes in the 6cyl frame and bolted them together through those 6 cyl holes. Figuring if the 6 cyl mount holes lined up then the v/8 tab would have to be in the right spot without having to do all kinds of measuring. Then I welded it all in.
    Here's a picture of the frame that I cut the parts out of.

    and one I saw for sale as a 56 Belvedere outside a steak shop for $350, then it disappeared and then reappeard about 9 months later as this.

    Maybe just swap the frame? We had two frames, built one and transfered the body over. Only took a weekend,

    it's a solution ! but it's less work to pull off the engines and install the mount of v8 on frame six ?

    Just yesterday I got a 55 Belvedere 2 dr hardtop 6cyl automatic. About 95% complete but lacking a radiator. Motor turns but backfires thru carb, hope someone just has it out of time. Interior good, exterior fair...victim or earlier restoration and whoever did it was no expert body man.

    Yeah, that's true, but in my case, I was doing it with a finished car and I wasn't willing to risk lifting the body off.

    Hey sorry that I wasnt able to get that information sooner. If you can still use it I have the frame dimensions for the 55 Ply and 56 Ply. The frame on the Ply is shorter than the 56 Dodge. the wheel base on the Ply is 115in. where the Dodge is 120in.
    over all length of dodge is 184 11/16, and ply. is 179 11/16. I have a frame diagram out of my 55 Ply. manual. There are differntces between the 6 and the V8. Let me know if it will help you and I will send it your way.

    You might note that the trans. crossmembers are in a differnt place, depending on if its a standard or powerflite trans. also. is your car a Plymouth with a dodge front end (sheet metal) ? Since your from France I was wondering!!(Also in your avatar)

    Our 55 belvedere 4dr. Been a great car, lots of looks. Original 230 6cyl. still 6volt system. Only one like it at nearly 99% of cruise-ins or shows.;)

    hey 56 belvedere, do u know is that kingsway, a 56 Ply. with dodge front sheet metal? or is it just ply trim on side?
