Registered today and they keep telling me to introduce myself so OK.

Basically I am crusty old fart so I think I will fit in there.

Been looking for my rag top for 20 years or so and finally found it.

Some owners claim only 49 registered in the USA, so if that is right,, shes a bit of a rare bird.

Car is mostly done,, Thank you Joe, right now just tightening nuts and bolts so I can say it is me,, Then paint and top and she should be good to go,

Keeping her stock,, No OHV but do plan on some "Goodies" down the road.

Welcome, what part of Nebraska and what is your rare bird? I'm working on moving down to western Nebraska in the panhandle this spring.

  3. Ragtop: Might be handy to let us know what kind of car you are talking about. I assume it is a Ford but then there are other "non OHV" cars out there. Try to load up a picture when you are feeling real patient....welcome, Tim

Sorry,, its a Merc.. Only a few over 5K ever produced.. Fords where like 40K or something like that.

But then I was told a Merc was just a Ford with lock washers,, so they are close cousins for sure

I could lie and say this; http://www.cars-on-line.com/62609.html is mine but I won't.

However this is the second guy who has quoted 1 of 49

For now mine is grey primer and no top or interior, although the interior is in hte box ready to be installed.

Plan is to go fanfare maroon as seen on this 51 http://mercuryland.com/blog/pages/

Hope the second link works.. Looking to put a tan top on it.

So flathead guy.. You good with older Mallory distributors.
One came with the car, but it's in a box.. Thinking hard about putting a 2cg carb on it and changing the distributor.

Welcome from "Centraler" Ne. I kind of have a soft spot for the Merc's.

  17. 52, welcome from Kansas City...yes we'd love to see some photos!
(a HAMB shop night...great idea, any in the KC area?)

Wanting to be sure I under stand, you have a 1952 Mercury Monterey convertible coupe M76B, if so the numbers were something like 5,261 produced. The 1 of 49 might be a specific color combo or option package. I used to be into the Monterey's (had a '64 and '67), the '52 convertibles are rare and best left with the original V8's. Better get that top and interior in so we can follow your progress!

I'm originally from Columbus---welcome from Rowlett, TX. I don't remember ever seeing a 53-53 Merc ragtop before.
