My guess it that the scoops are some sort of tail light, maybe marker light stand.

Not from a Corvette, or boat.

    Nope.

Not from a stationary engine, but you're getting warmer.

    Nope.

You did have a Model A Roadster, but you sold it! I want a '32 Roadster...but wait, I had one but I sold it!

    Yes, planning on it.

Haha, they aren't nearly big or blingy enough for his charm bracelet! :)

Beautiful car and a great story. Your welding is incredible. Wondering if you could post a pic or two of how the "back" seat cushion was done with the rollover at the back edge of the cockpit and is still removeable? Wood strip fastened from underneath? I want to do the same style on my '32. Hope I'm making sense.

I know that's not what it is, but it reminds me of the bird deflector Cole made for his blue bike out of a meat grinder intake, still had the name cast into it, no one knew what it was-

Are the scoops part of a carb?

  12. I'm going to guess that the scoops are for a firefighting apparatus.

The scoops look similar to generator air vents on thirties engines. On my Packard 8 the mouth is wider and the foot is radiused to lay on the generator.
I also thought I've seen something similar on WWII aircraft engines, maybe Allison or Merlin.

Beautiful workmanship on that roadster, Mr. Bass.

  17. The mystery scoops......I thought I had the answer earlier, as I dug thru a junk box and found an old Girling master cylinder....it's damn close....
I spent some time looking thru images of brake and clutch cylinders/reservoirs, but no luck
Bummer....I could just feeeeel that Bass Kustom shirt against my skin.....:(

The seat back is made from two pieces of plywood, put together at an angle. The lower part fits in the original tabs for the seat springs at the upper rear of the seat pan. The upper piece has studs in it that fit in the original holes for the tack strip.

The scoops aren't from a water motor.

I always thought that was a neat touch.

    Not part of a carb.

The spark arrestors on the carbs don't have any name in them, so I don't think they are Nicson, but they might be.

Oooh boy, I thought for a second you were going to get it. You are the closest one yet. Don't forget, you have to provide a photo of the scoop in its natural environment to win.

I think so too, but they're getting warmer.

    No Terry, not turbo parts.

Thanks! Deciding on color combos is pretty tough. I always beat myself up about it.

  27. It's the vent off the front of a 1930 Packard engine
