There was some distractions, Two rows from the A/FX cars , there was almost a Golf cart wreck every hour.

  15. Any one know the date they started building 64 Cyclones? I know they did not start selling 64 Cyclones till March or April of 64 and I have seen some have February build dates but I came across this one for sale yesterday that has a January 30th build date. Anyone know the actual day production of 64 Cyclones started? This may be one of the earlier ones made.

Apound and Analog Dog, I think you guys were talking about Cyclone build dates at some point in this thread!

The 1964 AFX comet shown in the recent video, I heard that AFX Dave raced that car with his 1965 BFX comet with a 289 back when the nostalgia racing and he beat the 1964 AFX comet back then.

Yes I have 2 Cyclones both with a build date of 04A.

  19. Wow, that's almost 2 weeks before Mercury announced the Cyclone on January 17th.

I bought them from a guy that is 84 years old now. He told me he bought one of them new. Said he was driving to work one morning in L. A. and noticed a Comet being unloaded that didn't look like any he had seen. He called his wife and told her to go check on it. She called him back with the details and he told her to pay them and bring it home. He made it into a drag car a year or so later. Car is only showing around 30K miles. Probably one of the first Cyclones sold to the public. He bought the other one later as a used car and made it into a drag car also. Both cars were built the same day.

I think he told me the dealer was in Irvine CA.

  22. Great that you have that story to pass on, usually these stories die with the original purchaser. As to the roof trim. My May 4th production 64 Cyclone has it and this one made on January 30th does not. Have you narrowed down the date they added this piece?

All the credit goes to some of the Guys on Face Book. Every once in awhile a new photo shows up.
