So one day i was cruising Craigslist, (as i do often times now that I have a CL app on my phone that allows me to now search all of craigslist for crap i dont need..) and I typed in 53 chevy under autoparts (i do this quite often, as im sure most of you guys do for your rides just to see if theres any shit out there) and low and behold...some guy in out in Riverside area had an entire 53 chassis for sale that had a TCI mustang II setup (installed), four link rearend (bolt in), brake booster/master cylinder, wheels and a bunch of other shit...basically an entire rolling chassis! The price was outrageous, so i sat on it for a few days..I saw that it was still posted, so i decided to give em a call and kick the tires a bit... So come to find out the dude had a 4 door that he sold the body on, and was going to get a coupe body, which never ended happening and was selling the stuff cuz it had been stored in his garage for a few years. Perfect.
Long story short...i wanted the gear, but i wasnt gunna pay what he was asking. So i made an offer....and he took it!!:D (in more ways than one!)i nearly shit when i got all the stuff, it was one of the best scores ever!
    I got:
    -chassis
-mustang 2 (with bags) and power rack
    -4 link (with bags)
    -brake booster setup/master
    -5 stock wheels
    -2 compressors
    -airtank
    -transmission cross member
    -73 nova axle (10 bolt) 273 gears
and some other odds and ends...it was nothing short of epic!! i couldnt get the money out of my pocket fast enough!!

So with the body all blown apart and a bunch of new crap to play with I decided to get going on the chassis. So after much contemplation and research the plans for the frame was to shitcan the bolt in 4 link, and purchase a 2 link trailing arm setup from the guys at Jiminez Brothers Customs. I had called and talked to them a few times and they were super cool and have installation videos for those of us who know jack and shit about proper suspension setup. Kane (dude who answers phones there), has a crazy deep gravel filled voice that sounds like a villain from a comic book or that one white dude from that movie American Me...which added a ton of legitimacy of their whole operation (at least in my mind). I wanted this thing to be low. Low ass low...because if youre going to bag a ride with the body off of it you might as well make it retarded. I also wanted to retain the rear seats of my car, which this kit would allow... because what good is a chopped hot rod if you can't cart around your drunk ass friends to car shows in style?:rolleyes:
    SO....here we go....:(

With the C-Notch done it was time to get to setting up the rest of the suspension. I decided which tire size i was going to run, and proceeded to make some templates out of plywood...because I decided I had a lot of other ways to spend a thousand bucks right now other than WWW tires...seriously who the hell do these tire manufacturers think they are?!?! ANYWAY...i set up the wheel base measurements after bolting together the Mustang II and mounting my super slick plywalls...I quickly realized that setting up a completely stripped frame is a shit-ton harder that one with all the old suspension crap and brackets on it...it made for a stressful experiance to say the least:(...i just kept measuring and measuring. I think i got it right..but WTF to I know about building cars? I got it all tacked in for now and will put the body on to check everything out after I mock up the driveline.

So after i got everything mocked up I came a few conclusions: The Mustang 2 setup i have was a "normal height", not a superlow like the Fatman ones or the ones with taller tophats...which was limiting how low i could get the frame in the front...and in the back the axle was buried all the way in the c-notch, and it wasnt gunna go any lower. This left my frame at its lowest point in the back about 1 1/4" inches off the deck. Unacceptable. SO...i decided to ''Z" the frame.
Now, to be honest, i was more scared to do this than to chop the f'n thing. Cuz nothing says cool like driving your dumbass down the road crooked as a dogs broke dick. I really didn't want to screw this up. I could just hear mofo's laughing already...anyway...like I said, if youre gunna do it, f'n do it. Bonzai!!!! (Mr. Miagi voice).
I PM'd 53Chevtrev (who is cool as hell) and he gave me some pointers...cuz he "z"d his frame as well on his 53, and I'm a poser ass bitch and basically copied all of his shit... Sue me. So with i took my time and measured and measured...and cut my f'n frame in half.:(
For all intents and purposes I think i got it right...but if you see a crooked ass 53 driving around in So Cal you'll know who it is and you can give me a thumbs up for being a retard.:cool:
