It looks like it has Buick trailing arms on the rear end too.

  15. Look like it was set up for a long tailshaft trans, maybe hydro?

The late 50s Merc 3 speed trans had a much longer tail shaft then the Fords did.

The only cars I know that had trailing arms like that were Buicks but they had a enclosed drive shaft up into the 60s unless Packard had something like that with their torsion bar suspensions.

  22. Pontiac and Olds also had trailing arms with coil springs from 1958 up for their full size cars...not exactly sure of their design or appearance tho.

  23. did buicks and pontiacs have 5 on 5.5 wheel bolt circle?

Rear end looks very similar to my '46 Oldsmobile. Identical trailing arm set up and differential centre. Differential has a 5 on 5 bolt pattern, LH side wheel studs are LH thread. I thought the engine mounts look like old Ford FE, Galaxie 332 / 390.

Nice score. If I only ever build one more hot rod I'd like it to be a 33 or 34 3 window coupe.

  28. thats the rear end/ trailing arm set up

  29. the trans mount looks like a57-59 ford car mount. motor mounts do look to be y block. 35 or later front axle , olds rear . thanks for the help guys. wish I had the rest!

i will try to piece together a body this winter.
