40 yrs of worth of towing with many mistakes but have never lost a car yet!

Always have 4 "Quality 10,000 lb Straps with snap end hooks" plus the best axle straps you can buy.

"X" your straps on both rear axle & front axle or lower "A" frame on independent front end. Take care not to crush brake lines with your axle straps. If you hook to frame car will still bounce around and travel down which can loosen straps in a crash.

Have a great welding shop weld on swivel Heavy duty "D" rings at all four corners.

Truck should have heavy duty receiver hitch with solid tube ball adaptor using 1" shaft ball.

Oh no, I feel so sorry and sick for that guy.

  3. If you hook on the frame, there's the possibility that vibration or bumps on the road will allow the springs to compress even further, at which point your tie-downs become loose and the car could move. All it takes is a fraction of a second for you to have problems.

Reread it again asshole. I had mentioned that the ass driving the trailer ran the stop sign. I do not see how you could read my post and think I missed that part. My point is, that even if he did not see a stop sign, how could you not see a car coming at an intersection quickly from the right or the left? And at least slow down, even if you thought you had the right-of-way and the other guy had to stop, just to avoid a collision.

I was only a 1/2 mile away from there (at the auction), but still you or I
wasn't right at the accident scene, so none of us knows exactly what happened.
Maybe the brakes failed on the '99 Ford tow vehicle ? I'm just
    saying, Only the driver knows.
I feel for the guy, because no matter why the accident happened, he had
to have felt terrible for what happened. Just thank god, no-one was hurt.

A freind of mine, that lives just a few miles away, bought the wrecked '40
and the trailer and the '99 Ford truck. He is working on the '40 a little bit
but said he might have bit off more than he can chew, and will sell it if
    he can't fix it himself.;)

    UPDATE :
Well, Bert Sold the '40 last year (in 2014) to a guy a few miles south
of him, who is going to try to finish the car. I wish him all the best with it.
