Here's a shot sitting in the pits of U.S. 30 Speedway in Columbus Nebraska. It's clean, so I must have been getting ready for hot laps. I've got shots of it going around the track, but none on this computer.

It's not a flathead, it's from another post about a 351W (i think) with homemade flat heads put on it and stuck in a camaro.

“This is Clarence Everett’s one year old Camaro. He ran G or H/G. He was a Flathead legend in Oregon. Clarence bought the one year old SS396 as a recovered theft, pulled the engine and installed the Flathead. Clarence raced Bonneville and the drags for about 40 years, with all types of cars, mostly Flathead powered.”

OK, maybe so. But it is sorta strange that every reference to 'ol Clarence on this internet thing has the same picture, same text and no one saying they know/knew him.

Um, I don't think so. I'd like to see the machine work to put the valves in the block.

  9. The bottom line is "to each his own". Myself, first I'm for "old school", engines in anything, Caddy, Oldsmobile, Nail Head Buick, Packard, Y-block Lincoln or Hemi. Next is GM in GM & Ford in Ford & Mopar in Mopar. When I go up & down the rows at a car show I don't take pictures of old Fords with Chevy motors unless it's a 348-409. That's just me. There are a million of them just like Camaros & Mustangs, you've seen one you've seen 'em all. Like I said, to each his own & what ever makes your boat float but I don't have to like it...

Also, since all the Chevy Fan-girls love their 350 engines because they are cheaper and easier to build; then why in the hell dont they build a cheaper raggedy ass Chevrolet car to match?? OH-----------------maybe the Chevy is harder to work on than a ford.

There were more 32 Chevrolet cars produced than 32 Fords, so whats the excuse ?

Neal East ran a SBC in his '32 Ford roadster. Was he a Chevy Fan-girl? Tom McMullen's '32 Ford also ran a SBC. Was he a Chevy Fan-girl? Gray Baskerville ran a SBC in his '32 Ford as well. Was he a Chevy Fan-girl?

There was a die hard Ford guy that ran a Ford engine in Camaro Late Model dirt track stock car back in the 70's around here.

Maybe so, but we still have more class than some guy with a bowtie..

How do you tell if a rod gas a SBC in it without even opening the hood??
It's easy, actually,.. Just look for the cars with the puddles of green under them, and those will be the Chevy powered ones.
    Truth hurts, huh?

At a shop where I worked I removed a Chevy SB from a chopped '39 Chevy sedan and put in a 351 Ford. I was pretty far along when my boss and the owner had a falling out. At that point putting the Chevy back in was quite a bit more work than finishing the Ford, but my boss apparently didn't want to give the guy anything so he had me switch back to the Chevy then sent the guy on his way.

I love this thread on principle. my avatar almost had a 460 in it. my dad sold it before I got by his place to pick it up--ended up with the Cad 390 instead.

Yep, somebody seems to have gone over the edge on this rah-rah Chebbie stuff- really? Got nuttin' else in your life? We got a little hospital here in town that can help folks with obsessions and hate issues like that- might even let (make?) him play with more than one color blocks as therapy ;)
