Art & Inspiration Friday Art Show...Tribute to El Polacko

Between Jiggers awesome send off drawing last week, and Norwell's suggestion that this weeks FAS be dedicated to the Hero that hot Rodding lost recently, I got really inspired to crank out a piece in tribute to the one and only Norm Grabowski. Hopefully a drawing of a car to pay tribute to a man doesn't seem shallow... it's just that I draw cars...it's what I'm good at ... I think he'd understand

Anyway, this is nowhere near done, but it's gettin there, so i figured I'd throw up a work in progress to get things rollin!. I know it's still missing the flames, but fret not! they will be on it before it's finished.

It's Friday (somewhere east of here)....so if ya got a piece inspired by, (or made by?) Norm, throw it up! And of course, all non-Norm related art work's welcome as well.

 

just started doin scratch boards usually paint with acryclic but here is one for ol' norm

I should warn you I'm not real good at portraits or caricatures. I thought there would be a lot of 'Kookie' cars,so I wanted too do something different.

Just a quick sketch of a kustom 49' Olds.

 

Nice work so far...Okay - not exactly a Normski but there's a skull inside so I'm going to fake it. I posted this idea a year earlier and recently redid it changing the goon hand to a skeleton hand. I'm at the Hot Rod Reunion this weekend and will be offering litho prints. Yes it's scratchboard but the color was added on press.

 

off to a good start, art tribute

 

Here's one I had done (I didn't draw it though I wish I could have) of my car. The requested theme will probably draw out lots of t-bucket stuff.

 

I'll see if I can find time to do a tribute but for now I have a few sketches and photos from the Autumn Classic a few weeks back. There's always a great atmosphere when the hotrodders visit, the wall of death is great too and the whole thing gets mixed in with some steamers, cooper 500's, hillclimb specials and vintage Bugattis. I was lucky enough to get a ride in a fantastic 1932 model B - and also a blast around the countryside in a GP Bugatti - fantastic. Hope you like the work. Lots more photos in the album...
