The kidneys look really nice. Nice choice with a nostalgic halibrand look and you dont have the headache of polishing magnesium like the crazy priced originals.

Looking good! Dare I ask how much one of those front wheels cost?

I was just going to ask if that was Mickey Ellis's old truck when I clicked on it a couple of minutes ago! Didn't Sqeak Bell originally put it together in the early ninties? I just happened to run across the Old American Rodder article on it the other night while I was doing some research for stuff on my roadster pick up. I remember it from L.A. roadster show though when it was freshly done, and I have to say, it's one of the reasons I own a '29 roadster pickup!

It was built by Bell in around '90 or so based on my research. The rails are either Duece factory or Just a Hobby units- I can't remember. My next goal is to slide a chromed, drilled Superbell under it and break up the orange a little more on the nose. I updated all of the ignition to MSD gear, threw on a polsihed Edelbrock water pump, tuned it, etc. Just making little upgrades here and there. It runs pretty strong now. That's pretty cool you remember seeing it.

You are correct that the Real Rodders Wheels aka Real Wheels, when Vaughn originally designed and manufactured them, are cast in the USA. Not true for the current Halibrands. If you feel it's important to support American manufacturing companies purchasing these wheels would accomplish that. I'll put a new set on my next project.

I have a set of those slicks. They weigh about 70 pounds each :)

Never could get them to balance though, so they are just for looks.
