Alright 55 chevy gasser guys, im about to try to find or fab up a scoop for my ride (Master Blaser). Please post some pics of what ya got, built, bought, stole, whatever. I want to see some traditional oldschool bad ass scoops. Please post up your pics. thanks for your help and photos...
Here is my BDS scoop. I have a couple others that have the adjustable bases (for different carb spacing), but these are made to be direct fit.,and actually lowers the scoop a bit. I also like the looks of the taller opening. Here is the old adjustable one(on the 1st set of carbs...).
Well, I know this one looks like a TLB scoop but it's not. It's one a friend (RallisRacing's dad) had in his attic from "back when". I guess it was a pretty common style. Larry T
I don't have any pics handy, but the bolt-on, 'late-'50s-through-mid-to -ate 60's' vintage Ford "Super-Duty" 'big-truck' hood scoops were popular on all kinds of gassers, mod-prod and altered-class cars 'back in day'. Pontiac even bought these scoops from Ford - minus the 'Ford Super-Duty-truck scoop grill assembly' - and relabeled them with a GM part number and used them on their '62 and '63 'Super Duty' factory race cars. My friend's 55 Chevy. 327, four speed, 57 Pontiac rearend, built by "Pepe", and Henry's axles. It ran low 11's. This is "THE ONE" that started it all for me. My Uncle took me to see it run at Lion's, when I was 10 years old. Been hooked since. Sorry for the crappy pictures, taken by a 15 year old, with his 110 Kodak pocket camera, in 1976. Note the "FOR SALE " sign in the window. $2000..... No way I could come up with that kind of money. I would eventually like to build a copy of it.
