Traded my Beetle for a '64 Galaxie more door. Was going to lower it a bit, but I bottom out now as it sits ... I dunno.. I'll figure it out.. may have to bag it. I like the idea of supremes and white walls.. a little striping, some interior work and call it good. Rides like a Caddy. Good starting point regardless.
very nice, I had a 2 door hardtop years ago I bought from a co-worker for $25.00 that thought the trans was bad cause he couldnt get the shifter to work. I put in a set of motor mounts and off I went.
"more door" = more than 2... which to some is "not cool".. but I do see with the prices what they are.. 4 doors pickin' up in popularity.. More practical for some of my aging friends that want to ride along.
Excellent vehicle there! I've used this exact model as a daily driver for many years. Kills me I can't anymore due to gas prices and longer commute. Mine is tan in color, 352, and several years ago I swapped in the bucket seats and console from an XL model after converting it to a 4spd!
Good trade! Think pinner whites, supremes, radirs, milners with spiders, glasspaks with bellflowers, glowing white tuck and roll every where.....oh my GAWD!!!! Beautiful
Great tip here: Install a pair of hard rubber casters (about 3" dia.) just up inside the rear bumper, both sides. It'll stop that 'scraping' when you enter your driveway. They can be just 1" visible (you'll never notice them) but will eclipse any necessity to 'raise it' or 'bag it'! I had some I put on my '50 Merc 'taildragger'...Good fix!
64 Galaxies are just super-cool - I love my XL 500 Convert - it's just a 10 footer but I just love driving it every chance I get. Wooohoooo. I like yours and it looks really good just stock. Cheers.
I like that idea. When I initially was going to look at this I was hoping it had the buckets and console shift... would be nice to do that swap.
