Well we where able to finish up the truck and got it in primer for the Ohio Mile last weekend. It was a hard push to the end putting the hood on for the final time Friday a 10:30 in the morning. I was able to road test it for 6 or 7 miles and it seemed okay. So dad and I loaded it up to see if we could pass tech. Low and behold we teched to 135 mph and with a few minor fixes over the winter should tech to 150 mph next year. Between the two of us we where able to get in five runs. Dads fastest @ 132.34 mph and mine was 131.73 mph. We both managed to get our D license. All in all a great weekend racing with my dad and hanging out with friends.
It is a standing start one-mile course. For power it runs a 350 chevy 0.40 over making it a 356ci motor @ around 400hp, muncie 4spd, 9 inch ford rear end with 3.56 gears. Went through the end at 6400 rpm.
Thanks. Making sure he got to run is what keep me going the last couple of weeks while working until midnight most of the time.
KoolKat thanks, it will be remembered for awhile. Great feeling my dad has not been that fast in years.
I wondered how fast you ended up. I talked to you a couple times during the meet. I was with the orange Studebaker. Good job. Charlie
Building hot rods with your dad and racing is as good as it gets. This is the only meet at the mile I missed this year, was there a big car count there, want ed to go but had to do some things with the wife. Nice truck by the way, see you there next year.
Charlie, It was good talking with you all, my Dad has loved that Studebaker since we saw in in Bonneville a few years ago. Hope to have mine in paint for next year and look forward to a great year of racing. Kevin
