Man Im stoked! It's finally going to happen thanks to my friend Adam Taylor (AKA Suge White)! :D
So I've been wanting to get my car in GLOSS paint for years but never seemed to have the time to finish all the little bullshit details.
I met Adam at Santa Maria earlier this year and we hit it off right away. He expressed some interest in painting my car and lived really close to me, so it all sounded good! He came up after the show to look the car over better, we had a few beers then agreed to go ahead and have him paint it, but I needed to fix some shit first. then I dragged my feet for a few months. I was busy working on other cars and had no time for my own. It's actually pretty strait but needed door gaps done, hood and trunk fitted better, little cracks fixed, etc, etc, etc. and I just couldn't get to it. Finally he said just let me finish up the little details and lets get it done! Perfect!

This is an older picture but basically how it looks now

    Time to pull it apart!

Got all the shiny stuff off and most of the interior out.

Finally got it down to Adam yesterday and he's already kickin ass! Here's the big man himself. Sorry for the blurry picture dude! He's actually really stoked to be painting it so that makes it even better!

The headliner is not removable so he's just working around it and and trying to keep as much dust out of the inside of the car as possible.

I had two different skirts on the car so I found this nice set of accessory ford skirts Adam is making them fit right.

And he's wasted no time starting to gap the doors!

Cant tell you how freakin happy I am to be getting this done. Thanks Adam!

    Great news Kevan.

Looking forward to see your car with some glossy paint on it.

Thanks for keeping the early custom car stuff alive on the hamb lately!

    It's about time! Sheeeesh!

Seriously, there are only a handful of cars, that if I were to ever possess them, I wouldn't change a single detail. Yours Kevan, is at the top of that very short list.

I am glad to hear you keeping it green. I always like the color it is now, but the shiny stuff will do the car justice.

What teardrop skirts are the best fit for the 39-40 Merc? Are the reproduction Foxcraft ones for the 40 Fords a good fit?

Thanks Mike, yeah those aftermarket teradrop skirts on ebay are not bad. Nice thick metal. You have to modify the center mount arm (whatever you call it) because the merc wheel opening is lower than most early fords.

  25. Fantastic Kevan! Good for you. It's a wonderful car already, but gloss is going to put it over the top. :)

Wow! Kevan that is really great news. Man, I would love to take some photos with my old cameras. I'm still working at a snail's pace with the metal issues on my '40 Mercury, but some progress none the less.
