Recently acquired a 1961 OLDS DYNAMIC 88. 2 door no post hard top. a TRUE bubble top. Cars is in great shape. one repaint, spotless underside and little to no rust. SIDE NOTE: it has a 1962 olds interior ,dash and motor. The interior is near mint and will only need repair. ?IF? it were a matching number original, then I would have done a complete stock restoration. Since it is not stock, I feel a nice mild custom is in order. New paint..Looking for ideas shaved everything air bags all around and tri bar spinner caps Motor 394. I have a complete recent rebuilt TRI-POWER set up. car was upgraded to a turbo 350 and custom mount,..adding a 700R4 overdrive. so.. all comments and pictures are welcomed.
Interesting combo with the bellflowers, curb feelers, fender skirts, black wall tires and a raked stance. Looks like a great score to start with!
Love the Olds bubbles. There's a super clean stocker here in town. Poor old gal looks a little confused though haha. If it were me (my $0.02) I would lose the skirts, swap the wheels and lower it all around and evenly. Nice Olds!
I usually like skirts on everything ... and I'm certainly a fan of bellflower tips but I would ditch them both on this car. Nice ride!
Those skirts do not suit the car at all. I'd ditch those and modern wheels, drop her a few inches, put on some neat old spinner caps and call it done.
Love the car. Not diggin' the skirts; at least not with that rake. If the rear, or the whole car, was slammed, the skirts might be bearable.
Here are some shots of one a very good friend of mine is building. He has a ways to go still. His plan is to run a 700+ HP 403CI LS2 with twin Garrett turbos. And a Morrision's suspension under it. Not a HAMB friendly car, but you have to respect what the car is going to be when he is finished eh? The plan....
Yeah, sorry, mine's not a 61, but I just love my 60 Coupe - I still reckon it's a work of art. Hope you don't mind too much. Cheers.
Here's my bubble top ........college ride in the mid-60's......327/365 HP engine, 4-speed. posi, MT (Radir) wheels........
You are correct ,sir! Just left the body shop... date was set ..NOV.1... deal was made. coming soon... Frame off paint job shaved emblems and trim. tri power set up. 4 wheel disc brakes overdrive trans custom interior 4 wheel air bag set up 15" wheels and pinner 3/4" white walls with tri-bar spinner caps...
I'd agree with some of the previous posts... Lose the skirts, wheels, and lower it.... It would look great. For some reason the skirts don't flow nicely with the body lines.
Despite being a Ford guy ( Merc really) I have always loved that body style. If I ever owned a GM it would be an Olds or a Poncho...
1 I had a few years ago. All stock,( didn't stay that way long) with 45k og miles on it. Yeah I know it's a 60, but a bubble
