in 1986 I gave a junk yard $300.00 for a 1971 dodge challenger with no motor me and my brother dropped in a 340 out of my wrecked dodge dart and I drove it for about three years and sold it for 3.000.00 dollars I wished I had that one back

  2. In 1997, I bought a one owner '73 Caprice Classic 2 dr ht from a friends dad for $300.00. It was running bad and overheating. His mechanic told him it had a blown head gasket. No sign of water in the oil, in the exhaust, bubbles in the water, or anything else indicating a bad head gasket or cracked block. Setting the timing and points helped some but it still had no power and ran hot. I needed to replace the tailpipe to pass inspection. The muffler guy got it in the air and told me to check this out. The tailpipe was mashed completely flat behind the muffler and the engine was not breathing. New tailpipe and a fast trip down the freeway to blow out the engine and it was running great. I drove it 2 years and 20,000 miles and sold it to a kid for $1,900.

  3. I recently picked up a 1989 mazda B2000 extended cab from a guy at a bar for $400. Nothing wrong with it... cold A/C too. Sold it for $1800.

bought 2 60 El Caminos for $500.00. removed the factory AC from one, and sold the remains for $1400.00. sold the AC for $450.00 and parted the other one and got over $3500.00 out of it.

bought a 62 Caddy for $2200.00, drove it a few years and sold it for $2500.00. bought it back for $500.00 when someone told the guy it needed a new transmission that would cost the guy $900.00. filled it with tranny fluid and drove it home and parked it. a while later I took a look underneath and saw where the 2 transmission lines had been rubbing together and rubbed a hole in one. piece of rubber hose and 2 clamps later I was driving again. sold it cheap for $1500.00 the second time. probably a $5,000.00 -$7,000.00 car these days.

Here's my best transaction: I bought this '34 coupe from a guy named Joe. It had over $36K in receipts and I paid him WAYYYYYY less than that for it.
We became and remain real good friends. I few years ago Joe and I are going to an NSRA appreciation day and when we meet up,Joe has this nice '34 Roadster. Joe wants his coupe back;I want the roadster.
Guess what? We swap even !!!! I have never been able to thank Joe enough for this great deal. The roadster is a keeper as I'll never find one to replace it at the $$$ I have into it.

X200 for me. My daddy used to say, "Boy, you could screw up a steel anvil in 10 foot of water with a rubber mallet".
My wife will ask me a question and then do right the opposite because, "you can choose the wrong 50% 100% of the time".
