1935 Pontiac 4 door sedan. Steering and suspension are assembled, so essentially I have a Pontiac billy-cart :D
Been in the family for years so kind of inherited her, definitely seen better days... wish I get her about 10-15 years ago. Most of the wood is rotten and will need a fair amount of panel repairs and steeling out. Leaning more towards keeping the fenders and a Gasser style build me thinks, still early.
Replaced the Dubonnet front suspension with a parallel leaf I-beam set-up from a '36 Chevy.
Ready to do a few minor rust repairs and box the chassis, then drop the engine in when I get a gearbox.
    Being a Mopar guy, I'm dropping in a Dodge "B" big-block and A833 4 speed.

Define "working" on it!!! I'm driving the hell out of mine, fixing the small bugs to keep it roadworthy. Now it looks like I gotta sell it. Super fun car!

Big Mac...Where did he buy the disc brake conversion? Did it include a new master cylinder? Thanks.

Don't know, I'll have to ask him. I know his car didn't have power brakes, so he removed the defrost box and put a power brake booster on the firewall. He said the disc brake set up was total bolt in kit and fairly easy to do. I'll find out where he got it.

What a great thread! Here's some pictures of mine the day I brought it home. It's a 48 Streamliner.
The transmission shop I bought it from advertised it as a 47 Olds.

Scarebird has disc brake kits for Pontiacs. You may have trouble with the master cylinder unless you hang one on the firewall and eliminate the defroster.

My 55 Star Chief 2dr Hardtop was restored to original over 20 years ago, shown for a couple and then put in storage for about 15 years. If was brought out and sold. New owner took the 287 and three speed out and installed a crate 350 and 700R4. I purchased it in February of this year. First thing it got was A/C. It's hot in Texas. A lot of little stuff has been replaced, head light switch, brake light switch, shocks, new radial tires, aluminum radiator, etc. Parts are tough to find sometimes, but usually reasonable.
OH, the deck lid picture is where I backed the Gator into it. Had only had it for about a month. Yes I did utter some very unacceptable language at the time. Been fixed now, body shop did an outstanding job. You would never know it was bent.
Gettin ready to go to Cruisin the Coast in a couple weeks. Have only missed 4 in the past 16 years. Come on down, it's a great show and cruise:eek:

Here's the latest on mine. Plenty to do this fall/winter. Swapping headers, rear gears to a 4.33 from 3.73's, getting some more body work done than hopefully some paint.

  26. .....and a few of my 11, 55-57 Pontiacs I've owned through the years. The rusty 60 star chief 2 door sedan [weird car] gave it's 389 up for the 56 chieftain hardtop [4 speed slant-pan hydro] in the next photo...the light and dark blue 57 sedan got a '59, 389/muncie 4 speed transplant in 1970. The dark blue 57 sedan got a '67 GTO 400/muncie 4 speed transplant.
The silver 57 super chief was a stock 270 HP 347, AFB, factory dual exhaust car with the awful automatic tranny...the 55 wagon was bought with a 301 Pontiac/350 turbo and the little blue and white 55 chieftain hardtop in the first [black and white] photo was bone stock with it's 287, hydro...a car that was given to me when I stopped to inquire about it sitting in a yard in Hood River oregon.

    Hey 55chiefton,
what rear end are you using? The 55/56 seem to have a unique rear only in those models and are tough to find in anything but stock ratios. Mine has a whine that I don't like and would consider replacing the whole think if there was a bolt in out there that would work. And not cost me an arm and leg. I don't have the ability nor equipment to make say a Chevy 12 bolt conversion. Since I'm running a crate 350 and 700R4, I thought maybe about a 373 would work better than the 309 that is in it.

DANG! A beautiful 2 door '50 Pontiac Fastback slipped away earlier this summer. It ran great with the straight 8 and a rebuilt transmission, and the seller almost let me buy it but decided to go with her friend who also wanted it.

Now I'm focused on my newest acquisition...which happens to be my favorite car of all time!

I just sold my 50 Pontiac 2 door sedan but got some projects now. Picked up a 53 Pontiac convertible, 53 Pontiac hardtop, and now a 49 Chev 2 door Fleetline.
