I was on the phone with him thru out the evening. The car is sorted out. He hammered 'Lil Jewel 75-80 to Knoxville. It was an overly rich condition. The gremlins of the New Orleans humidity bit him. He'll post a bit later. Thanks, he appreciates y'all.

i wish i seen this yest. here is my number if Joe still needs help. 865-964-5566

  6. The unilite has a 12V switched power lead, it has a ground wire than needs to go to ground and then it has an external coil with a resister between the 12 power and the coil on the positive side and a wire that runs from the distributer to the negative side of the coil. I have used GM and MOPAR resistors but they prefer the mallory resistor. Will run on any of the 3.

Give me a minute and I'll get the wore colors for each lead.

    Back in a jiff,
    Benno

    Green - negative coil

    Red- switched hot

    brown - ground

  8. Joe just called me an hour ago. He is at The Hot Rod Barn in Knoxville. I'm tied up at work but he is still having trouble. Said it is running.like Shit and burning fuel like crazy.

I gave him a number of a guy to call. Don't know what he found though.

Met up with El Jefe in Knoxville. Changed plugs, again. Replaced plug and coil wires.
About to get it back on the road. Will keep y'all posted.
Thanks for all the support. Y'all are way cool. Larry Griffey and his crew at Griffeys Hot Rod and Restorations helped us diagnose and let us use his shop.
Reggie Hill has been dispensing sage advice the whole time. Thank you one and all.

BTT, Hope he's still making progress. They'll be plenty of flathead support at Pimlico.

What kind of air cleaners is he running? We just had a flathead that had a problem running rich under load. Thought it was ignition and then carbs...ended up the air cleaners were choking it.

    Just a thought.

Don't know where you guys are at now. I didn't see this til now. There's an old timer here in Crossville that's a flathead guru. We're about 65 mi west of Knoxville. Let me know, I can put you in touch with him if needed.
