What wheels would you put on my Ford?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by 2many projects, Sep 25, 2012.

  1. When I bought this thing last winter it was rolling on these Budnik rims.
Thay are not my favorite wheel but hey, it had to move around on something, right?
How would you upgrade my Ford?
Steelies with caps 'n' rings? Steel wheels with spiders? Sombero's?
Some 5 spokes? Whitewalls or keep the blackwall look?
    I'm open to suggestions.
Sorry about the crappy overexposed camera-phone pictures but you get the idea I'm sure.
I'm just not a Billet Budnik kind of person.

Sombreros would look great! I like a full wheel cover on that body style.

Just a simple set of black, stock '40-'48 16" wheels with caps and rings and a set of blackwall tires should do it. I'm sure the bolt pattern has been changed, but alot of people make aftermarket wheels that accept stock rings and caps.

Halibrands like Fat Jacks fast ass coupe. But then, you might need a big giant motor too....

that depends am i payin formem or you, me id go with steelies

  13. I like this HAMBERS thought.
Caps over red steelies with the trim ring delete package.
That would be a coooool look!

  14. Since it appears to have a bit of a Hot Rod rake, and not a Custom with a low rear, I would either do steelies with caps and rings or Torque Thrusts.
My 37 had Boyd's on it when I got it. The car is Pumpkin Orange and I went with a lighter shade of orange for the steelies for a little contrast.

I have since added ribbed trim rings

But my 41 Coupe i went Chromed Torque Thrusts.

  15. Well now that really depends on if you are going to paint it flat black or not. If you are going to paint it flat black so it can be "traditional" then all you need to do it paint the wheels red and you are golden. :D:D:D

I am real partial to chrome reverse wheels, not chrome smoothies, but chrome reverse. Either with caps or not.

Chrome Steelies NO CAPS with white walls. Dish Mags or Torque Thrust NO CAPS.

    NO CAPS = It's a little imperfection

Halibrand style wheels, American 5 spokes or ETIII's.

no white walls or full caps. looks like the rest of the car does not fit that style

If it were my car I'd put on a set of wheels and tires that I liked, but since it's your car you should prolly put on a set of wheels and tires that you like...

yea, but if you did that, it might not look like all the other "steelies with caps and beauty rings" equipped fat fendered ford coupes out there, and other HAMBers would point and laugh, and treat you with scorn and derision...

20s with a sticker on the quarter panel that informs everybody of the size. 20 ". Oh serious chrome reverse with black walls. But then again you asked so I say lowered in the rear with sombreros...

  28. Anything but what's on there now!

My vote would be Rodlites. They just seem to fit the theme.

I think chrome wires with knock off centers are always an attention grabber.

The car is pretty slicked off, so I think shiny (or at least brushed aluminum) wheels are probably the hot ticket. Maybe it's due to my age, but I think some older style aluminum slots might be a good look.
