General Metals in Tacoma, WA used to, once in a while, set out an older vehicle so the public could gather parts before they ran it thru the crusher. I doubt if they do it anymore but it was cool in the day.

My dad and I got a 57 retractable with no engine in much in the same condition as that convertible for free about 20 years ago. It fell in half on the trailer. My Dad kept the 9" and we parted the rest out and made $400 in parts. Even though it was beyond repair there was still plenty of usable stuff left.

Here's a pic of the late 60's/70's "art work" on the hood of that Fairlane. Took me a while to figure it out but it says Jimi Hendrix. I think it's the coolest part of the find. I'm the Dad.

Found this in a WV "salvage yard". Many Pontiacs, and even a Hudson or two. Going back this Fall and getting the emblems.

Looks to be a rare 4 door hardtop. I see a deluxe steering wheel, probably had power brakes too. What a shame.

That combi (vw van) is worth enough to make it well worth the time to get it.
Wisconsin guys start out out with less.
