I'm very glad it is staying in the family, nothing against any one here but a local car from around here with some significant history got parted out, come to think of it, it was still in the family. I guess the wrong family member inherited it.

  8. That is as close to perfection as you can get in my book.

The big history cars that have been blown apart and made perfect don't even come close to something like this. You get under those over-restored cars and everything is perfect and spotless and it's kind of sad actually.

Get under this one and you can tell it's been used as a hotrod.....cared for, but put through it's paces.

In the encyclopedia under "traditional hotrodding" there should be a picture of this car.

Thought I'd ad a pic. That's Tom and his Roadster on the right at El Mirage in 1950.

I can see how he fit under the steering wheel, he was over 6 feet but it was a thin 6 feet, and I don't mean any disrespect.

Thanks for posting this time capsule.

We marvel at that every time we look at it. My Dad and I are both at least 6' and have a hard time getting in it.

amazing car! even more strange is i was just reading about it last night in pat Ganahls lost hot rods book. It says that it is believed to of been previously owned by the spaulding bros. of cam and ignition fame. also tom worked in a chrome shop and his buddy jack clifford (guy in picture next to other similar roadster at el mirage) was a pattern maker and they made several parts for the cars such as the quick change.

Yup, that's the car. Tom was a good Friend of ours.

The plan is to take the car to Bonneville for Speedweek next year. It will mark the 60th anniversary since the last time it ran at B-ville.
