I was pleased to hear that Kirk! has resolved his issues.

I just returned from the shop tour at Troy's. What a great bunch of cars. We don't usually have this many cars of style around, cruising this area. Nice to see. Some great people there also. I may have some pics soon. My wife will download them hopefully soon. She's the photographer.

    DAY SEVEN.......

Yesterday I didn't have internet, so Ill be posting 7 and 8 today.

Yesterday was more driving than browsing, but we did have two cool stops. I didn't get any phone pics of the first stop, but it was in the middle of nowhere in Wisconsin. The private collection included Phil Hill's Cobra, vintage Jags, a couple LeMans-style race cars and a wooden FULL SCALE John Player Special Indy car. While that sounds cheesy...IT WAS NOT! It was insane! It had complete suspension, brakes and motor all fully detailed and WOOD! I'll post pics later when I get them off of my good camera.

The coolest thing, to me anyway, was that this guy had a satelite hanging from the ceiling that looked like Sputnik. When I asked about it he said it WAS A SPUTNIK!. Apparently the Russians made five of them incase the first one failed. He bought it from a Soviet museum who was having financial problems via a friend of his from NASA. He then goes on to tell me that they called him back a while after buying the first one and said they had another...STILL UNASSEMBLED IN THE CRATE! Holy crap!

We then headed for Madison to the Edgewater Hotel on Lake something or other. I ended up with a corner suite somehow with two bedrooms, three beds, two bathrooms, two closets and even a linen closet. I felt like I was in someone's house. I could have jumped in the lake from either of the giant windows.

Soon after checking in Dick Munz sent a chartered bus to pick everyone up and deliver them to his "toy shop" across town. It used to be an old taxi company and I think I heard that he even worked there as a kid. It was three storys with spiral cement ramps from floor to floor. DAMN COOL! Cooler that the building was his collection. Rare, rare, rare flathead goodies, Arduns, the '32 roadster from the cover of Rods & Customs and MORE! He had the street blocked off so some of the tour could park there. Mostly the Brizio-built rides. Check the pics.

ALSO if you are on the tour or at one of the stops and have pics POST EM HERE!!!! The more the merrier!!!

    DAY EIGHT........

Today was another cold morning. It's been in the 30s the last couple days in the AM. I feel for the roadster guys....man! The day's agenda was packed with four more great stops. First was Heidt's in Illinois. It's their office and manufacturing facility. Yep, made in the USA! I was just there for a tour a few weeks ago, but it was cool to see again. They do it all!

We overfilled their lot and Gary Heidt broke his car doing a burnout in the parking lot.....d'oh! Well, I guess there was not a better place on the planet for that to happen.

When we left the city Police gave us an escort to The Roadster Shop, stopping the traffic at all of the intersections, lights flashing. It was WAY COOL! I don't think the citizens minded the free Wednesday morning parade.

The Roadster Shop was another place I'd visited before, but was stoked to check out again. The Gerber family and their crew have one of the most impressive car building facilities in the world. They do everything from traditional hot rods to state-of-the-art road raceable muscle cars. They all perform as good as they look.

Stop three was Billet Specialties. Yeah, yeah, I know. Not HAMB-friendly, but I always dig top-notch manufacturing plants and they are it.

From B.S. we headed for the hotel for a quick check-in and then over to Troy Trepanier's shop. Again, a shop I have visited a couple times before, but I'm always totally impressed with what they have in the works.

Dinner was served by their crew, I shot pics, shot the shit with friends and then headed across the street to an antique mall that has been closed the other times I came by. I'll include pics of some of the weirder shit from there too.

Tomorro is the last day of the tour to Indy. I'm shooting for lowering the 'Bird at the first stop. Then we have three days at the Goodguys Indy event, leaving for the return trip via the southern states on Sunday around 1pm.

    Pics....

    Another breakfast on the road.
