It seams straight forward but it was by far the hardest thing I've built so far. Getting them all cut the exact same way and making them symmetrical. Plus the fish mouth at such a weird angle. Oh ya i haven't finished welding them yet either. Im always open for pointers!

Thanks for the reply! With the cone causing the cope to be gradually bigger, I can see the issue. I am going to build me a set but I am nowhere near that stage yet.

Another question, how big of a PITA was it to form the patch panel in the upper rear roof? I have to make a panel for the exact same spot and without an E Wheel, I may look for a donor or go buy an E W so I can learn:eek:

Looks great as I said and keep the pics coming.

hey i have a question for ya. how did you figure the distance between your rear axle and the frame in the kick up? also how did you figure your coil over length and spring rate?
    Thanks

I really like this thread, I'm a subscriber, great work so far.

My kid works with bicycles, and years ago he turned me onto tubemitre.exe its probably been discussed here, its a simple spreadsheet available from multiple sources on the web, free. When you download it, at first it doesn't look like anything at all, but then click on file, then settings. You input 4 specs: your tube dia, wall thickness, the other tube dia, and finally the included angle of the two tubes It generates a paper pattern that you print, cut out and wrap around your tube. Works great, I used it to do an elaborate tube crossmember assembly, still had to tweak a little, but it got me pretty close. Used it a lot with my students at school as well.

Course, you got a tapered cone to connect to, a whole 'nuther ball game.

Hope this helps with the next one, or someone else.

I didn't get much done on the hot rod today. I felt like chopping something up. So I took an old rusty sportster tank i had laying around and chopped about an 1 1/4 out of the middle and fixed all the dents. Looked like some laid the bike down at one time. I then pounded the tapered bead running down the center of the tank. I did finally make the radiator brackets...
