  3. 57 - 72 p/u is as close to a direct bolt-in as you'll find. As long as the axle is put back in the stock position (under the springs, etc) it is the correct width, spring pads are in the correct place, and pinion angle is the same. The 9" is bigger around so you will need larger U-bolts though. Additionally a drive shaft may need to be fabed depending on application.

If you move it above the spring for a drop pinion angle may need to be adjusted, but that's not difficult.

    Yes.

Here are a couple that passed through my hands this summer. The 56 used to belong to Chris.

Ok since this has turned into a info thread, the beam under mine is kinda questionable, what other beam will fit?anybody here done the yoda steering box swap?

  7. Lol, no problem...

I traded for this truck back in December. It was in really good shape with a lot of the body work already done.

It has a Chevy 350 under the hood mounted to a turbo 350 tranny and ford 9" rear (done by previous owner).

The suspension consists of monoleafs that center the wheels in the fenders in the front with a CPP 3" drop axle. (I would not recommend this axle to anyone! I had to have it machined just to fit and now installed the camber is -2 degrees. Its not a choice I would go with again). I also added a front sway bar and gas shocks.

The rear has Camaro leaf springs (I think they are) and I flipped the axle on top. I did notch the frame to get this done and added gas shocks. The sway bar I bought did not fit so I am looking for another that will fit.

As it sits, the running boards are 5" from the ground and the tailpipes are 2" from the ground. The only time I scrape is going over speedbumps. Besides that it rides great.

Since I purchased it I also installed front power disk brakes, finished the interior off by making door panels, kick panels, and adding carpet. And I changed it from a colum automatic shift to a floor shift automatic with a tall Lokar swan neck shifter.

As I said... its a work in progess. Hope this helps the "rest of the class". LOL

I like your truck and that you use it to tow. Is that your Featherlite trailer? How do you like it? I'm considering getting one for my self to use with my 48 F1 when its finished.

Whose trailer hitch did you use on the truck or did you fab it yourself?

Ok, I broke down and took a picture of mine. There ya go. Oh, and by the way. If you want to put a receiver hitch on a truck like this. The same one that you can buy to fit any ford pick up, up through the 80's will bolt in. Mine is a reese. This is my daily driver.

  20. Big Back Window. What kind of box is that, it looks as if it is wider and are those 3' wider fenders?
