I dig Falcons and I dig customs. Everyone told me I was doing it wrong. I don't care what they say.

    How it started:

A few owners back did this:

Then the next owner did this:

(Except it had Radirs on it.)

    I wanted this:

Fortunately, I've got an incredible Hot Rod and Custom Shop close by. Boling Brother's helped get rid of all that extra space between the pavement and the bottom of the Falcon:

Once that was finished, I had to pick a color. There was only one choice in my mind. Unfortunately, D'Agostino stole my idea. Oh well.

I called up and old friend to help me get the Falcon shaped up and colored:

And then there was light. HOK Candy Pagan Gold over silver, under 6 coats of clear:

Obviously I'm not finished yet. Thanks to a handful of HAMBers, this thing is turning out a million times better than what my mind's eye head dreamt up. I'll keep pics coming as the Falcon comes along. And for the record, the back is up two inches from ride height as pictured.

A custom Falcon that handles. Really nice. Sits great, love the wide and WIDER Astros. Really nice work so far!

What are the plans for the front suspension?

  4. I really like the mix of the kustom and the hot rod themes. I'm a big fan of the big/little look, and I love the idea of the wide rear Supremes. I like what you've done to the suspension as well. The coilovers in the rear, along with the updated front suspension should make that little car handle and drive like a dream.

I have always had a thing for the early Falcons, especially your body style. I wouldn't care about the "you're doing it wrong" comments. I think you are on the right track, and I love the direction you're going. The mid-60s kustom theme can get a bit stale at times when guys start building nearly identical clones of the same body style. Your car will be fresh and unique. I can't wait to see more pictures.

What do you have in mind for the drivetrain?

Another HAMBer is going to be helping me out with a small block ford. Nothing crazy, but I certainly don't want it underpowered. Trans-wise, C-4 more than likely. This will be my driver, so it has to make sense.

Funny enough, as far as big and littles go, there's almost no difference between front and rear, but the reverse wheels throw the visual off. 205/15 front 215/15 rear (can't remember if they're 60 or 65).

    I really appreciate the comments.

...but this is perfect for the look. A trade off between custom and hot rod...

Here's a test panel my friend/painter laced to give me an idea of what we can do in the "spear."

  13. From seeing the blue spear previously pictured and seeing the pagan gold car i immediately thought it might look good with a lace spear.

Next, I gotta pull out the column and steering wheel for paint, hopefully right after some lace work. The chrome work should be finished up soon, which means I've got to start pulling the windows apart to clean and polish.

Here's the Falcon at Boling Brother's Early Iron. Back for custom paint work when these guys are finished.
