2012 Adirondack Street Rod Nationals

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by IamParadox, Sep 14, 2012.

  1. Okay, I realize I'm a week late, but I noticed there aren't any picture threads from this event in Lake George, NY. So I'd might as well share mine. Here goes:

  2. This '57 didn't even try to be period-correct, but it was one of the cleanest cars in the show. In my book, it's a truly outstanding piece of automotive art:

  3. This A-bone, on the other hand, was 50's-era perfection. And the owner is barely out of his teens, by my guess!

I noticed an annoying trend of otherwise-classic-looking customs sporting tacky 90's-style plastic mirrors. Here's a prime example (still a pretty nice car, all in all)

I think that 57 is outstanding. Regardless of any chase ( or not) to be period perfect, the use of that color combo along with the detailing hits dead on for me. Especially unique is the use of those wheels normally seen on street rods. I'd like to have that exact set of rims and wide whites to swap with my torq thrusts just to mix things up occasionally. Bravo.

Great show usually! The one thing I didn't like, the way they parked the cars.

Cool Vette, built in Mexico circa 1960, according to the info plaque:

  9. Yeah, they really pack them in like sardines. Apparently they're talking about a change of venue to allow more space...

  10. Another incongruously detailed custom...

  12. Flat black still seems to reign supreme here in the Northeast. I don't think it's a bad thing...

  16. Come to think of it, I sort of remember seeing that thread as well. Perhaps that person will happen upon this thread... I don't have any info on the car, unfortunately.

  20. The owner/builder of this gorgeous Caddy said he started out to restore the car. I'm glad he went the mild custom route instead!

  23. The street and side lots in town always have more fun and excitement. The next two cars won't be to everyone's taste, but I sorta dug 'em.
