Projects The Mexicali Merc, another 40 Custom in the works

Discussion in 'Traditional Customs' started by Sledge, Mar 17, 2012.

  1. In Holland i know only my own 39 Merc coupe and of two 39/40 Fordors
In Belgium i know one chopped 40 coupe (from Canada ex Kustomman)
There are probably more but still very rare.
    Sorry for the crappy pic.

No wonder I can't find one. There all either in Sledge's driveway or in Europe !

Baron, yes you can...just pay and i'll thow them across the border,seriously!!;):D

  11. My plans are to get it running with a 331 Hemi i already have and get it registrated but first i have to renew the lower 10 inches of sheetmetal
    because it is really rusty.
I have some 32 Fords too, all with work so it will take years before it will be on the road.

And yes, i will not let it go

Yesterday was fantastic! My Buddy Jason brought his 40 coupe over so we decided to get all the 39-40 mercs lined up together! This is something we talked about doing for a few months and I'm glad we finally did! The old custom 39 convert and the green coupe are mine, The red/burgundy coupe belongs to Jason Hodge, the beautiful black 39 coupe belongs to Tim Kirkegaard of Denmark (which I will be chopping next), and of course Reno Casasola's bare metal Mexicali Merc in the middle. All these cars will eventually be customs and a few will be going to other parts of the world, so it's nice they could all get together for this little family reunion!:p I cant begin to tell you how privileged I feel to have a part in the building of all these beautiful machines!

    Jason's coupe!

View looking out from the garage. Looks like the Mexicali is throwin out some attitude to the two stocker's next to him!

My 39 convert which is an original 40's custom. He's like a grandpa custom talking shit to all the newbies!

    Tim's Black beauty 39 merc!

The Mexicali is happy as a pig in shit hangin out with his gang!

After the photos Jason and I took our cars down to the local cruise nigh in Auburn. It's amazing how many people still don't realize they are the same car even when they're parked right next to each other. What a great day in Mercland!

That is an impressive assortment of '39-'40 Mercs! Makes me want to get my '40 out of storage and have you chop it!

The craftsmanship in this thread alone is incredible.. Then you go and show the 4 other Mercs.

I'm going to go and repeat to myself; "they're still out there.. They're still out there.."
