    exactly right on that tommy!!!!

  2. Flowmasters on the 390 in the Bump, Mellowtones on the flathead in the '50 Club Coupe and ss Borlas on the Tbird 312. Those Borlas on the Yblock really sound sweet. Undicided about the sbf in the '36 PU project, but leaning towards Porters.

  3. I'm running Flowtech mufflers behind my '327. They have a nice, deep, throaty tone and are not real loud unless you get on the gas. I'm real happy how it sounds.

Porters sound great on a flatty! I had flowmaster 40s, if I rememebr right, on my 355 and they were ok. If I kept that car I would have swapped them out.

On a BBC I wouldn't use Porters though.

I'm running flowmaster hush power mufflers. Just right. 383 stroker motor with about 500 horse

  12. I used 3" in and out Walkers. Complete 3" exhaust system. Makes the 502, rather some what quiet. The sound of the cam thru the headers, is nothing but powerful sounding.

  14. Use the longest PORTER MUFFLERS you can fit underneath.
    Sweetest sound you'll ever hear.

those look interesting...cheap and an "old" look to them. I wonder how much they neck down inside from 3"?

If you don't need mufflers, you must not have enough motor

This is what I did. Def. a great sound. I ran duals on my six and it had a drone while cruising, those days are over I'm installing the 409 now. Can't wait to hear that bitch!

I have a set of Magnaflows on my 59 El camino. 427 Chevy, 2' primary full length headers, 2 1/2 inch pipe all the way back. I wanted mellow, but these things are a little too quiet for me.

I run stainless steel magniflows and love them . Now my buddy wants his car to sound like mine. They are low sounding till you really get into it.

Dynomax Super Turbos, the longest case 3 in 3 out behind my big block. Sounds great and no droaning in the car on long drives.

  26. Thanks for asking the question, as I'm trying to make the same decision myself. Building a 427 for a 64 fairlane and still haven't pinned down mufflers. Was thinking flowmasters as well but am concerned about being too loud.

For me on the '62 Dart wagon it was between the original 40 series FlowMaster and the 40 Delta. To be a little mellower inside and outside go Delta - they can be had on eBay for about half what the muffler shop will want.

Figuring it's clear out the back on a long roof - went with the original 40 series. Will find out tomorrow how she sounds behind the 318 and 2-barrel.
