And remember that the odd #s are on the drivers side!

 

Front to rear.

1 3 5 7 on the drivers side bank and 2 4 6 8 on the passenger (US) bank.

 

Standing in front of the car, and looking down over the distributor is clockwise.

 

Same as Mopar iron hemis (smile) . And the actual firing order, this cyl, then that one, then his one here, is the same on Ford flatheads but they are numbered differently.

Seriously, standing in front of the SBC looking down, rotor turns clockwise as well as the crankshaft- equally important to know, good luck.
