Which one is closer to being able to drive cross country and back? I can see the Lincoln in suede and wheel/tire of your choice. The truck is a truck, 'till you independent the front, redo the leaf pack and shocks in the rear. Then a really cool a Buick/Pontiac/Olds/Cadillac driveline 'cause it is a General Motors truck. A 283/327 'chebby' would be ok.

As the owner of a 59 Chevy 1/2 ton Pickup, I get a lot of compliments and thumbs up and the truck is definitely a 100 footer.

I also own a landbarge, 59 Caddy. No contest. I'd keep the caddy over the truck and I'd do the same if I owned that Lincoln.

Pass on the farm truck..Lincon all the way...there is nothing special about the truck, stepside small back glass trucks can be bought cheap.

I also had a 58 Lincoln once, cool car..trucks are everywhere....

Goozgaz posted this over on the Vintage Shots thread. It's a two door, but I thought you might want to see it.

I can't help but think about investment, and to me the pickup is better. If you need to sell in the future the pickup would be easier to turn. Also, the truck would be more fun, less expensive, and easier to work on. Nothing more than my opinion. Go with what suits you. Good Luck!

    Yep.

  16. My personal preferance is with the pickup. I'd need to buy a 55-56 GMC front clip for it tho.
I've had those old lincolns and they damn near broke me for parts/gas. I just like short box GMCs better than big-boat Lincolns any day.

  18. The GMC should have a GMC engine...I got a buddy with a '59 and it has a gennie 270 cu in GMC six banger....they're twice the engine a 235 chevy is. If you go to a V/8, the GMCs had Pontiac V/8s in 59...a great engine also.
I'd have to keep the six if it's in good shape or go with a 59 Pontiac 389, stick bellhousing and a 4 or 5 speed. That's the setup I'm using in my 34 ford and I've used it in many 55-57 Pontiac cars...a fine combination IMHO.

I'd go with the truck as well.

  25. keep the Linc. trucks are like a-holes here in WV anyways, and there is no short supply of either.

I'm shocked! For me it would be an absolute no brainer... Get the truck! Keep the six, like Rocky said, it's probably a 270, throw a five speed behind it, a second or third carb and exhaust on it and use it!
I honestly couldn't be paid to drive a four door around the block, more or less where anybody could ever see me.

Besides, as the daughter gets older it means you only take the wife or the daughter at a time. Much less likely to gang up on ya that way!

  29. Personally, I'd trade for the truck. The Lincoln is big and ugly and has a couple too many doors. Just my opinion.
