I was at the flea market today , diggin' thru some boxes , and found this tag topper , I asked him if he knew what it was , he said "No , all I know is I have asked a dollar for it , and everyone picks it up and puts it down" , I picked it up , paid the man , and brought it home....
Bloody hell! A dollar? What a bargain! How would you like to make 50c on that, I can make it happen, yeah man the big time!! Doc.
Yeah, it makes you wonder how much really great stuff gets tossed out. From car parts to signs to old cans etc. Keeps me awake at night. Great find by the way !!!
I'm glad you bought it, it is very sad that others picked it up and didn't understand the history and value of it. Bob
I was thinking the same thing , I couldnt understand anyone picking it up , pricing it for $1 , and putting it back down....just didnt make sense , but , If they woulda bought it , I couldnt have...
Very cool, I wouldn't set that back down! I have to wonder what they were expecting when they picked it up, one quarter, or best offer?
I found one of those about 30+ years ago in a wrecking yard. I think I had to pay $2.00 for it. I still have it, saw one on eBay awhile back that sold for $75.00.
Just goes to show you how dumb people are, even in this age of eBay, Pawn Stars, Storage Wars and American Pickers. I got those 28-29 Pickup doors I put in the classified at a swap meet and was amazed they didn't dissapear right off - the guy who was right next to him is a big Ford guy who drove there in a stock Model T.
Great find. I've got 2 that I love, "Ruptured Duck" about palm size and "Houston: Bright Spot of the Nation" full length of the tag. The Pearl Harbor would be a great addition.
