I second your opinion. Squirrel & FlamedABone are two of the best. What you guys do is fantastic. Was great watching you in action @ MO-Kan.

  6. Here's our 60 Poncho, a regular at the strip, but often just by circumstance, meaning our current racer broke the day before, got sold, isn't finished etc. Its named 'Kroozado' but it often gets called 'Plan B'.

Yes the rule book states you have to have a metal plate between the back seat and the trunk with a battery in the trunk which I do. It also says the battery can be in a battery box but it has to be bolted down in the box. I use a marine type battery box. Alot of guys drill a hole in the back trunk panel on their cars to mount a battery cut off switch. I dont want to drill a hole in my car so I am using a push-pull switch on a 24" rod. I will make a bracket to support it as it will come out from under my rear bumper. I went to trunk mounted battery because the Max Wedge cars could come that way and it gives alot of room up front. 14. Thanks for the kind words Modelacitezen. Pontiacs rock, keep after it. :)

Yeah Jim, I had slappers for a while before I made up the caltrac type setup. They were worth just about two tenths! Taking off the slappers also helped the ride a lot.

Made 3 "Timed" runs in my Twin (mostly ran at Eagle Field without clocks) with a best of 110.67 MPH in the 8th. The ET isn't worth mentioning as it fries the tires :D

Avatar pic is of my 1955 Chevy hardtop. Been in the family for almost 50 years as a race car. Sat for over 30 of those years. Whole story in the link in my signature with lots of pics. Video in my sig is the 3 minute version of the same story.

Car has run the best of 10.07 @ 130.5 mph. 406 small block with crower injection on alky, powerglide w/trans brake, 5.13 gear, solid frame mounted wheelie bars, homemade rear traction bars, stock '55 Chevy rear springs, 14x32 rear tires, original Econoline front suspension from the late 60s using reversed Corvair steering box. I did replace the front springs recently with exact copies of the original modified (shortened) '61 Econoline springs.

No engine set back but has 52% of the total car weight on the rear axle. Weighs in at 3200 lbs + when it leaves the starting line. It needs a few changes to really optimize it. Hopefully this winter we can get it finally set up the way I want it. The car is the most fun to drive of any car I have ever driven.. period.

Here is video from inside the car. This was a heads up run aginst a faster car. I treed him and won on a holeshot. 10.13 to his losing 9.99. I got to the finish line ahead of him :D

This is so awesome. I really love the drag cars in action thread but in some ways this is cooler. Guys are still killing it with old cars 40 years later.

Only current picture I have of the car is with the dog, but here goes
    [IMG]

Its just got a 350 in it, but has hundreds of passes on it. Best of 12.40 @ 110, but have changed the heads and haven't got to make it back to see if its improved.

  24. OK here's mine:glass body Volvo rear-end in 1/4-ellips springs stroked 4.0 liter AMC/Jeep inline 6 ,now 4.5 liters =276 cu in. Stock everything except an old Crane hydraulic camshaft (in it's 3rd engine now) the Offenhauser intake and a 600 vac Holley ,cheap car with even cheaper engine built with leftover parts, tried to kill it to get a reason to build a REAL engine, won't break despite my efforts... stock valvesprings to =valvefloat @ 6000 rpm and that happens at around 1300-1400 feet so it can't pull all the way to the finnish line but very fun anyhow Bet ET is 12.94 sec's "speed???" I don't know since I only run it this once and they didn't have speed just time. Oh well 6 minutes of wasted time is here:

Damn, I'm just not smart enuff to post pics. i've tried a couple of times. My avatar FED was running 5.90s @ 116, with a pump gas 363 hp (calculated) ZZ4 350. Just traded for a blown gas 370 in. engine that dynoed 608. Can't wait to see what it will do, probably cause skid marks.......
