These hound dogs of mine are my best buddies. My son takes them in his Dart with a 6 point rollbar. I will also take them in my 63 sometimes. Ron

Here's a poem that brought me comfort when I lost my pal awhile back. Hopefully it will bring a little relief to others posting here.

For some tech reason I can't post the whole thing.. says I have 68 images but I'm limited to 20 images. I'm not sure what is causing the issue but might have to break poem down into separate posts. The poem is good. I'm trying to share.

Just this side of Heaven, before the Pearly Gates<o:p></o:p>
Is a sunny meadow where your pets can rest and wait.<o:p></o:p>

    It&#8217;s where the slanting sunshine meets the highest clouds,<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
A floating bridge of rainbows so far above the ground,<o:p></o:p>
This is where we wait for you, if we have gone before,<o:p></o:p>
Just out of sight of mortals, just outside Heaven&#8217;s door.<o:p></o:p>
Here we play in sunshine, frolic free from age or pain,<o:p></o:p>
And anticipate the joyful time when we will meet again.<o:p></o:p>

Every pet that&#8217;s lived on Earth can bide his time, can wait<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
For that special person to come walking to the Rainbow Gates;<o:p></o:p>
And everyone who&#8217;s loved a pet will find them safely here,<o:p></o:p>
Frolicking on Rainbow Bridge till your own time draws near.<o:p></o:p>
One day there comes a feeling, a trembling in the air;<o:p></o:p>
And then we know it&#8217;s time to run and come to meet you there.<o:p></o:p>
Faster and faster on that day, across Rainbow Bridge we&#8217;ll run<o:p></o:p>
To meet the humans we love best, come walking in the sun.<o:p></o:p>

Alas, my friend, you cannot pass across Rainbow Bridge with me;<?xml:namespace prefix = o ns = "urn:schemas-microsoft-com:eek:ffice:eek:ffice" /><o:p></o:p>
But when your time for glory comes, waiting for you I will be.<o:p></o:p>
Then together we will walk upon a path of glittering light,<o:p></o:p>
No more to suffer, nor to part, but to live forever side by side.<o:p></o:p>
Every pet that&#8217;s lived on Earth can bide his time and wait<o:p></o:p>
Until together with his person he goes through those Pearly Gates;<o:p></o:p>
And everyone who&#8217;s loved a pet, you&#8217;ll find them waiting here,<o:p></o:p>
Safe and sound on Rainbow Bridge till your own time draws near.<o:p></o:p>

Fellows I'm sorry for all the gobbly gook at end of the lines and other goofy stuff.. none of that shows on my copy that I have emailed to others in the past.

If you'll email me, I'll try to email a cleaner version to you.

Special thanks to the moderators for not getting upset with me while I was trying to share the poem.

    All the best,

    Al

We've had to have 3 dogs euthanized over the years, a week or so after each, the vets office sent a sympathy card signed by everyone with that poem attached. It does tend to make you leaky.

great picture, mine would wait until I was by him to shake dry, he also would go drink water in the middle of the night, then come lay his head on my pillow and drool a gallon or so of water on me, he enjoyed that, as soon as he did he would go lay back down, he also would get up in the middle of the night, walk over and burp in my ear, then go back to sleep

This is my elderly dog Boo, 13 this year, as are all my dogs she's a rescue
    [IMG]

this is baby girl, this is the one we rescued then found out her jaw was broke, nothing to really do but put her down, the jaw would heal and then break when she ate, the vet said it would have been very difficult to fix because of where it was broken

We very reluctantly made the decision to have Dot put down last Friday. Truly one of the hardest decisions I've ever had to make, but the best one for her. I'll miss the lil bugger forever, and I am still welling up a little as I type this, 4 days later. Godspeed my sweet lil buddy, and sorry to those of you who have been here. The worst part of having a pet, but I wouldn't trade the hurt for the great days we had together.

  18. Al,

Thanks for the poem....I'm not ashamed to say that it brought the tears back again. Man, I really miss my dog! and the others I've had over the years. Its difficult to explain to some folks about the void that these dogs leave when they pass. I'm just glad she's not in pain any longer. Thanks again.

  21. Its really hard to get a pic of the black dog, her detail just gets lost in the shadows.

Still, here she is , the newest addition to the family, she is just 1yr old now and shaping up to be a great companion, she's smart , funny and filled with the joy of life. (really loves riding in the truck too:) )
