Polished is nice, but I'm a BiG fan of the "cast finish" blower cases.. :)

  4. I have 2 671s here, one is polished but I like my GMC issue cast finish one better.
Its been glass beaded and its just more fun to look at.
Totally different vibe too, one says look at me “Bliiiiing ! " and ironically the one that says " GET THE FUCK OUT OF MY WAY, I'm working here" is more fun to look at.

Maybe I'm just weird- you know, weird like Deuces is.

Possibly buying a 6v-71 this week to have a blower that looks a little defferent but moves air like a regular 6-71. And i enjoy the challenge of making the necessary adapters.

    Bring on the inspiration!

Im digging the cast finish but i bet it a pain to keep clean, ive been kicking the idea of a blown sbc(ya i know),i sold some hemi stuff and i still want this car to stand out, looking at a 471 or 671,i want to fill up the engine bay but not over do it with it sticking up 8 inches over cowl,(30 coupe on 32 rails)what the best source for a more period looking blower setup?
I would love to have some bobby walden crager stuff but it just out of my range considering i can get a complete dyers setup

    more pics???

here are a few that I took pics of last month. Not that I have a blower fetish, or anything like that.

the one in the 55 chevy is mine. It's an old GMC case that had been polished, but I bought it "unpolished" from BDS so they glass bead blasted it. Easy to keep clean, since the surface is smooth, it's just not polished. Occasionally I wipe it down with lacquer thinner.

I have access to several 671 Detroit diesel engines that are all low mileage fire truck engines with the 671 blowers on them. Are these even worth me taking the time to remove them? I don't know a lot about what it takes to convert one over auto use.

I'll do so then. I should be able to save a few of them as we cut the fire trucks up for scrap.

Definitely worth saving,I did one when I was an apprentice way back when from scratch and it wasn't a big deal.O ringed the rear and then bought the front hub assembly and pretty much good to go as long as you didn't want huge HP.Was running underdrive and if the clearances are good on the rotors etc save them.

Just lost a ebay auction for a old 471 cragar setup.Whats your opinion on a dyers 471 or 671 for a 327 and what kind of power can a guy expect from both,i like the 471 with a 2inch belt with a single or dual carb setup.
How the dyers products and can you get them without the dyers logo,i was thinking about dressing one up with a few cragar or weiand items.

I was watching that setup too

with no other changes than sticking the 4-71 with single 4bbl on my stock 303 it dyno'd 100 horsepower over advertised hp

depending on the build you should be able to double stock output without too much trouble

Don't want to rain on your parade, but a 6V71 is 3" shorter than a 6-71, so it has less displacement, but will still make boost on a smaller V8.
