Hi Guys sorry about my last thread shouldnt have even posted it i found a nice car a while back that i would like to fix up but im not sure what i should do with it i like the flat black look and really low any ideas or pics it a 54 hudson hornet with a flathead 308 THANKS
Now you're talking ! Hornets were very fast cars in their day and won a lot of races. I knew a guy who had one that he customized slightly and everyone kept calling it a 50 Merc. Shoot us some pictures. Don
Even Jay Leno has a couple, a 51 and a 53. Does it have a title and does it run ? Don http://www.jaylenosgarage.com/at-the-garage/classics/1953-hudson-hornet/
At least make sure it has a good title in the guys name, that is very important, Here would be my concerns on that car. It looks pretty good actually, the chrome all looks good. The windshield looks hazy, and that MIGHT be an issue as I am not sure if anyone has new glass for these. Not saying it isn't available, just not sure. Anytime you take on an oddball brand (i.e., non Ford or Chevy ) the aftermarket is sparse on replacement parts. You have to find good used parts sometimes and than can be tough and expensive. Don
This kid aint for real, just dreaming. It is fun to imagine though. 5 minutes ago he was putting a 572 in his truck, now this?
If the motor turns over, price is about right. If it has a complete Twin-H, even better. If it has power steering, it is a steal. Glass is reproduced and readily available, as are most parts for Hudsons. I got my first car, a Hudson, when I was 15, so show some encouragement for TheRodKid. He might be dreaming right now, but kids like him are the future custodians of our vehicles. Good luck kid!
Cool dude! Lots of good info here. Like everyone else said a title is VERY important. It can be a pain in the ass if you dont have one.....
Thanks for all the support guys..........Not sure what the problem is with "Dreaming" but im gunna try to get this car asap to start working on it.Same with the truck I have a motor i got for free and a truck so why not Thanks boys
I say go for the Hudson, if the motor isn't stuck you could probably get it running pretty cheaply. A 308 with a two barrel is still a respectable engine. Here's to dreaming!
That Hudson is cool....Lots of possibilities. Agree on the Title business. Also ignore the "Can Rat" comments.....must be a slow day in the toilets...... Cheers......
