Cool!!! Keep us posted. I can't wait to see that engine back between the frame rails.

  3. I just got home from holidays in Colorado, I was lucky enough to stop at the shop and see this car, the body has paint now and it is something else!

I'd like to thank the guys for a great tour of the shop ... they were very kind to an old fart from Canada that was blown away with the quality of the work they do there!

We got the motor trans and the rear end installed in the car a lot of little things to attend to yet.
We finally have a better shop camera so defiantly take some video of this car running real curious on how well it will run and what it sounds like.

    Beautiful car.

I cannot wait for you to post some running engine recordings - through open headers would even be better!

Were making progress on the car the chassis and drive train assembly are complete minus the distributor rebuild up front. the body is mounted and next week we will get the doors hung and keep plugging away at it. can't wait to hear this car run.

What a stunning hot rod, not only the rare parts but the craftsmen who have spun their wizardry on this benchmark of coolness. I stared at the amazing build for a long long time. Thanx for sharing this amazing piece of history with us. The restoration quality is benchmark. ~sololobo~

Are there THREE Riley V8 '32's now? The Don Orosco car, the cream and red one that was at the GNRS and now this one? Bob

wow the chassis and running gear , came out beautiful its eye candy big time , this car will be a rolling show piece

  18. Looking forward to seeing this develop, what a great build.

  19. The roadster is coming together brilliantly. Colour choices are right on.

  20. At last count I know there are 3x OHV Riley conversions.
    Don Orosco's.
    Speedy Bill museum.
Ray Basso's roadster (There is likely a couple others).

    3x SOHC Riley
    Don Smith's Red & Cream '32.
    Speedy Bill Museum
    3rd private collection

FWIW, Ford developed an experimental SOHC engine in 1938 quite similar to the earlier Riley SOHC.

The plan is to get out in the assembly shop next week and get the doors hung and get the car ready to start running the wiring. that was the plan this week but, a Nash Healey kept me busy with the sheetmetal.
Get the doors radiator, grill shell and doors one step closer to running. The radiator is extremely nice I don't know who made it or when but i believe we are going to end up polishing the tanks on it, from the looks of the radiator and the work that has been done to it it looks like that was Ray Basso's plan and we are trying to finish the car pretty much like he had started with it.

Any updates? Would you be willing to give up the tire/wheel sizes?

I've spent the last couple of hours carefully studying your build. Very nicely done!!!! I really like the rear K member legs from Industrial Chassis. They look excellent in there. Thanks for the tip on these. The narrowed Buick drums are quite innovative and I really like the headers and the clever way the end caps are installed. The Riley overhead steals the show on this car but if you look closely there are a lot of features on this roadster you don't see very often and are well thought out and very well done. Thanks ever so much for posting your build on this car. I am very impressed!!!

A little slow on the assembly progress on the Basso roadster but we are making progress Alan Johnson stopped in the shop to do some pin striping on the car.the car is all assembled and we are waiting on getting a distributor modified for the car, we are wanting to run the tack off the distributor and keep every thing looking period correct on the car as Ray Basso built it, there wasn't room up front to run a crank drive tack. I will post photos of it when our machinist get the parts back to the shop.
