Imagine if you will a small shop in Ellis, KS right next to Walter Chrysler's boyhood home traveling to California with a car he built for a customer and winning the "America's Most Beautiful Street Rod" award .....
I know this is not a street rod forum but I am really proud of my buddy Mike Keller and you should be too. Tons of hand built features on this car like the grille and dash and much more. Metal working magic by Mike....
    Congrats buddy !!!

I forgot to mention the paint job which has layers and layers of products giving it a deep quality that is really something to see.

    Thanks Paul.
We had a great time in California and ended up getting picked.

We met a lot of really nice people, saw some great cars, ate too much food, bought stuff at the swap meet, and enjoyed the cool California weather.

Yep, the car is definatly a street rod but we do build some decent traditional hot rods too.

Mike, I'm not sure you're a real guy....everytime I show up in Ellis KS, you go missing...either out to lunch, or off to a carshow...anyway, have fun wherever this weekend, as I will be in (or in an undisclosed location near) Ellis Ks.....probably be a little drinkin' involved.

Congrat's....and I'll say high to your no good bruda-n-law instead...

Saw it there. It is an unbelievably beautiful car.

  20. Isnt this a 12 finalist award deal with the winner being picked at the Scottsdale show in November? I am wondering because I guy I know in Washington won too for the car he built. Denny Olson built a beautiful 38 or 39 Ford Ute with a hemi in it and I saw it on Facebook that he was a finalist as well. Great job on that Chevy. It looks nice. Good luck!

No it is awarded at the show. The ute was a top 5 pick and they chose the winner on Saturday night.

    The Ute is awesome.

Mike the owner was telling me the story of Ryan Butler who was working on the ute when he lost his life in a race boat. Ryan's Dad and sister were at the show. He was top notch builder.

The truck then went to Denny's shop to be finished.

The fab on that truck is beautiful.

Seen the car. It was really nice.. great color and the stance was right on..

The Ute debuted in Puyullap a few weeks earlier. it was also a very nice ride.

  26. Ok, I guess I misunderstood how the Goodguys awards deal works. Your car must be awesome. Congrats! Will it be at Scottsdale in November? I would like to see it.

I didn't know alot about how the awards worked until we went to Columbus. I found out that on some of the "of the year" awards they pick the five finalist at the event and choose the winner at that event. On some of the other "of the year awards they pick a finalist at five different events and choose a winner from them.

Yes, we will be in Scottsdale in November. We will be hanging out with teach'm (Ryan) and his wife. Stop by if you get a chance.

Thanks for all the nice comments.
