Here's mine....I do Pinstriping out of it pretty much every week.....All my Pinstriping/Sign Box stuff, roll around stool and work station fits in the bed perfect.....I rarely go out in it someone doesn't ask for a business card..........It's been to Indy and Nashville Goodguys Shows all the way from the Gulf Coast....cramped but a blast to drive.
I don't have an actual shop BUT I build and modify vehicles nearly every evening for other people......and I always drive one of my f-1's...... since that is all I drive. The only time I ever have anything written on the door is when I put magnets on the side of my 4x4 f-1 when I haul the band equipment to our shows every weekend. If I ever do start an actual shop full time I may have one of them lettered up.
Here is my '37. I work out of it five days a week! Sent from my DROID device using the TJJ mobile app
This truck ended up here in Albuquerque, about 16 years ago a guy bought it, Camaro subramed it, put a short bed on it and pulled the GMC 6 out and put in a 350/350. In other words he built a cookie cutter street rod out of it. I was (still am) pissed about it. When they stripped the paint it had some really nice metalfinishing/ lead work on it.
Heres mine I took after I located it on CL (5 miles from my house) and went to look at it. Love at first sight. Drove it in its original glory for a couple years but needed to personalize it for my business so farther below is it as it is today. Lost a little traditionality under the hood but I Like It.
At the risk of getting off track on this tread I'd like to know the story. The truck here that was cut up and street rodded in the 90's I was certain was the real deal, chopped 5 window GMC, long box with the pipes, flipped axles, GMC 6 with some goodies, ect and like I said before, really nice metalwork (typical of Ayaya) under several paint jobs. If the truck you pictured is the real one was the one here a copy built in the day or did someone get the one here and put it back to how it should be?
The truck that D ROD posted in post #28 is the same truck that was in New Mexico in the late 80's, which is the real, original Ayala/Geisler truck. Bruce Geisler (who owned the truck in the mid 50's) found it in New Mexico in the 80's, re bought it and ultimately ended up putting in things like the 350/350 and A/C. He did not however put a short bed on it, it still has it's original long bed. Bruce recently sold the truck and it is now slowly being brought back to it's full 50's configuration as seen in post #28. If you would like more info on the truck feel free to PM me. Sorry for sidetracking this thread, just trying to straighten some confusion.
This one is going to get lettered similar to the way the original owner had it,I need to get off my behind and get the replacement drivers door painted so the lettering can begin.
If I told you, I'ld have to tell everyone, then everyone's 2 ton would have whitewalls! I just cant have that
I'm going build this as a tribute shop truck for my late Grandpa,as soon as i get some other projects done?? not gonna touch the paint or nothing just throw his old business info on the doors & tailgate, (he had a 52 F2-which he hated to death!but kept it)
Thought I might as well add mine...Is not my actual business, which is camper restoration, but a shop truck none the less.
