  1. I think this thread has jumped the tracks.

Maybe we should line up all the HAMBers who were at the drags and then ask the guilty party to step forward. If no one does, then we could punish everyone (mostly because they got to go to the drags and the rest of us didn't.) I've got it! A big HAMB spanking!! We could get some Orca Bettys to do the honors. What do you guys think?

Well, it's been quite a while and no one has come forward. The Caddy owners insurance is going to fix it with no cost to the owner. I have to wonder, why would anyone step up now after 9 pages of death threats, ass whipping and legal action? If whoever did it does step up, then what? What legal action is there for a tent blowing over? Arrest him? Sue the guy? Break his legs? Having the satisfaction of cursing him or her out on the internet?

It won't fix the feeling of having your car messed up, but like a parking lot ding, sometimes in this crazy, cruel world, you just have to think WTF and move on. I had to get new tires about 2 months ago because one got a pucture. It looked like someone stuck a knife into the sidewall. I was pissed for about 2 hours, but other than that, there was nothing I could do, but get a new set. I guess I could have gone into the store I was at and pitched a bitch or left a sign in the store seeking information, but what would that get me? No way the person was going to show up and say, "Sorry. I was being a dick and fucked up your tire. Here's $200 for a new one." Sometimes, we just have to accept that shit can and will happen.

Probably the only things to come of this is, keep an eye on your car when you're out and about and have good insurance. Accidents happen and the worlds full of assholes.

  3. ^^Yep.

Like my mother-in-law says "Das ist aber schade. Aber, was kannst du machen?" which translates to "It's a shame, but what can you do?"

Is it possible your avatar girl leaned over and brushed into the caddy?

I don't know about the rest of you, but it's threads like this that bum me out about the hobby. I know it's hard to swollow that something you own or your buddy owns got damaged, but when a bunch of civil guys start acting like a pack of wolves it creates an uneasiness that lingers.

For the most part we're all good people here, maybe this can serve as a lesson for everyone in their everyday lives; jumping to conclusions and over-reacting really gets you nowhere. Kudos HAMB brothers and sisters...still the best group of car people anywhere as far as I'm concerned.

I personally think there is no way a HAMB guy knowingly did this. Just no way...

Could this have been a drunk local with shitty intentions? Sure.

Could this have been some sort of an accident that happened unknowingly? Sure.

But to me, all of that is beside the point. "How" or "why" doesn't matter. "Who" does. Whether it be an accident or intentional... the "who" part of this solves the equation. The rest is noise.

I haven't read this whole thread, but I see some posts eluding to some drama on the thread. If that is indeed the case... and someone posted with anger on either side... just ignore it... It's clutter.

Remember to look at these people closely. Everyone in and around this area could have seen something. There was a lot of action going on here which is evident in the pictures. Look at the times and look at the people.

    Hope this helps!

I blew up the section with the guy and girl. There is a third person there. One guy has a blue t shirt with writing on the front, the other guy has a white shirt and white cap, and is holding the hands or arms of the short (or sitting down) girl. Wish I had FBI forensic computer capability.

He is either trying to restrain her, or just hold her hands, hard to tell. They both look a little chubby and the other guy in blue looks thinner and taller.

They look pretty mello in this shot, not like they are fighting, just watching the action.

Took the words right off my keyboard, those cheap popups have a bad habit of learning to fly.

Interesting that during that time period of photos, the blue tents appeared to change positions several times. In the later photos, one is moved back or gone entirely and the other has been lowered into a leaning position...

Most car shows do not want those tents set up at them because they do fly.

It could also be the lens on my camera too. I switch lenses a couple times.

This thread needs to be 5 posts long, not 204.

  25. In post 188, in the pic showing the HHR turned around, you may note
that the blue pop up is now gone. It was between the two tan ones
and the light colored one on the right. Was it taken down by the
owner, or did it sprout wings???? Dum-da-dum-dum. (Where's
Joe Friday??) Just need the facts, maam.

not only the blue pop up/easy up is gone, so is the red truck......

  27. It seems that the blue pop up went with the red truck... talk about a fashion faux pas....like undressing a blonde and finding a brown bush.

Also in #188 look to the group to the left, there was 4 pop ups in a row, sky blue, blue, tan & black at 11:23. The blue one is missing at 11:41. At 2:52 its back and that one and the sky blue one are at an angle.

I'm thinking we may never know who is responsible for this (although I do hope it comes out), but I'm also thinking some sort of ban or limit on those pop up tents is a good idea for future events.
Mokan is a pretty windy place, and any time you have those things interspersed with the cars it's asking for trouble. (And no, I am NOT suggesting that someone should have seen this coming before it happened because it certainly never occurred to me, but now that it seems likely to have seriously damaged at least one car why continue to tempt fate?)

Maybe pop ups in one area only? Or at least ___ feet from cars? Or some sort of tie-down/anchoring rule??

  30. Those things are becoming insidious all over. They do come with shit-ass stakes that are all but useless in any wind. At least put one tether on it, maybe have them lash them to their OWN car.

BTW, which way was the wind blowing that afternoon?
