Changed my Wheels, Did I help or Hurt the look?

Discussion in 'The Hokey Ass Message Board' started by NasT, Aug 20, 2012.

  1. Wires with skinnier tires but it'd be hard to make the car look bad with any kind.

  2. Great car, looks cool. Wires please.

I think the new wheels look just fine.

  4. My only problem with the car is the single carb and silly ass air cleaner. velocity stack with a K&N filter would help more than the wheels. another carb would balance it.
I ran dual 465 holly's on my bucket is the early 70's and pulled 25 mpg highway. I did run hallcraft wheels and small tires. I kept popping spokes doing 60 mph 360's. I don't drink and drive anymore and shouldn't be alive to tell all those drinking stories

I like the early look also " wires "

  6. I like the wires look but it didn't quite look right with the back wheels. So I like the way it is better.

  7. What a problem to have! Looks great either way.

I think the new Ansens make it look more muscular versus the wires that made it more pretty or Fad T like.

    Which one rides better?
Which one handles better, as in less understeer?
Which one vibrates and wiggles around on the road less?

I'm all for the one that PERFORMS BETTER!

  11. I like the spokes better, it's a lighter looking wheel, (not weight) just lighter looking. I would ditch that air cleaner and get a scoop too !

It's a T-bucket. Will anything make it "handle"?;)

I like both, but the wires are a tad better. Like I said, it's a T-bucket, so you can't go wrong! :)

    Yep, blower and carbs...

Your wheels look fine, either way. I'd lean toward the spokes if they were chromed - but they're not, so shiny fronts it is.

Is that rear hairpin bent like that on purpose?

Meh, I think the wires were a little better. It could go either way though.

The Hals on the front look better. I think you'd pull the whole look together more though if the rear wheels were polished.

So would the ET Gassers get me back to the lighter look of the wires? The wire wheels are long gone.

I'm thinking the grayed ones would work better with the existing rear wheels than full polish.

Maybe I can sell the Hal's to get the ET's......:(

  22. It all depends on what look you are trying to achieve. Gasser? Salt flats?

If it's gasser, I'd go with the gray ET Gassers.

Yea but the wires look more correct for it.

  26. I like wheels that match, so I'd go with the new set-up.

  27. The Halibrands look nice but you must then put them on rear! I say ET gassers and leave rear ones on.The ETs match the rears better says I.
