Does any one know if the serial number for this year, identifies my car in any way or is it just a number. my car is a 1934 Plymouth model PG 2 dr sdn all i know its a short wheel base and they only made about 1000 of this model any history on the 34 pg will be greatly appreciated thanks Eric
in my book , wich only goes up to 34 , shows ........model .., year ..., and how many built , thats all i can do for you !
From what I see, you don't have a Title or Bill of Sale with car. In Ohio you have to keep all builder receipts, then when you get it running & ready to put on road, you have to have it inspected by Ohio State Patrol Inspection Center. Maybe someone from at a Swap Meet might have Title or Bill of Sale. They won't be cheap! Hope you gaot a receipt, when you purchased it. Looks like you are rolling right along, looken good !!!
i have a title ..the car is on the road with ny plates im just trying to find out more history on the car ...
Contact Danny mink of Danny's Rod Shop in Summerset, Ky. He has had a few 33 & 34 Dodge & Plymouths. He has a Web site. Cruise On Old Dude, or as he knows me " The Rev "
The serial number will only tell you where it was made, Detroit or Los Angeles. The PG model numbers: Detroit 1020001 to 1039139 Los Angeles 3150001 to 3151472 There were 12,603 PG 2 door sedans produced in 1934
if you look at this link it says they only made about a 100 of my car this cant be right http://www.allpar.com/history/plymouth/1934.html
Chryler assigned serial numbers to cars as they were assembled. the bosy number is a Briggs sequence number and the engine number would be specific for the model code, You can talk to the folks at the historical section fo the WPC museum. They will for a fee send your a facsimile of the build card if the records are still available. It will tell you the date and locatio of assembly and who the recieving dealer was and where. It used to ve about 50 bucks, may be higher over the 10 years since I checked into it.
thanks for the info..i will look into it ...grease junkie how did you come up with a coach model instead of the sedan
Are you familiar with the serial number on the outside frame directly behind the drivers side rear tire? I have a '34 Plymouth PG 2 door sedan. BloodyKnuckles
no im not my vin is on a metal plate attached to my pass door jam..also i have a plate on the driver side firewall it says PG-#### with a four digit number
In the PG series, the 2-door was known as the coach. Production was 12,603. The sedan was the four door, of which only 62 were built. It never entered mass production. This is spelled out in the article you cited: "Early in March the PG series was launched bringing for the first time three distinct models to the Plymouth sales lineup. The PG shared the 108" wheelbase of the PF series but unlike the PF, which had an independent front suspension, the PG went back to a drop forged I beam front axle. The PG was the business series and as such was the cheapest car in the sales lineup. The PG was available only in two body styles, a coupe and a two door sedan. 62 PG four door sedans were built but that body style never reached mass production."
