Event Coverage Bad Bob and JustplainJ survive Bonneville...LITERALLY!!!

Didn't start out too well,with my truck vapor locking on me every 10miles. Took me 12hrs to get to Jim's girlfriends condo in Vegas. After sorting out the fuel pump issue,we were off and heading to Bonneville. Truck drove great,no problems. Hooked up with a couple from Austrailia,then another HAMBer from Montreal Canada,and motored on.
When Jim and I get there I take him over to the Bend,but it had POURED just before we got there,so it was mush! Jim got out pretty easily but I was stuck for over an hour. After getting free we headed over to the Campground where the Museum was supposed to go,that we had heard about on the HAMB. Worked out perfect.
The week was great...racing was awesome...Bobby has some problems with the supercharger,but Max got his license,and set a record! That was great. Hung out with the Old Crow Crew most of the time we were there. BIG thanks for having us to Bobby,Max,Logan,Shug and his wife,Del and his wife and of course Bobby's fiance.
We took lots of pic's,Jim and I,so this will take some time to post everything...

On another note...If you haven't already heard. I got heat stroke and passed out on the way back,while driving and coasted down an offramp in the edge of Vegas! All the cards were in my favor,cause the Dr said I was 10mins away from being a memory. If it wasn't for Jim and the couple who stopped,someone else would be doing this thread. Parametics,ambulance,EKG,IV,bloodwork,etc,etc...I didn't grasp just how serious it was til the Dr told me I was a coin toss from death. Jim called Eric(Chevy54) and Paul(Roadsterpu) and they haulled ass at 10:30 wed night and got me and my truck(cause they all knew I would have tried to drive home)and brought me back to Cali. I'm not a Religious guy...I believe in carma,coincedence,and fate,so I guess I must have earned such good friends along the way. They sure came through for me!!!

Heat stroke is a stroke... I know... I almost died from it!

Glad you survived... but now you have to be very cautious of the sun and temperatures.

You might notice increased memory loss or disorganized thoughts (or in my case... uhm... I forgot what I was going to tell you...)

God damn Bob behave yourself. You need to get something to drink besides that yuppie water. Distilled mash is good or at least some MGD or corona. Jus kiddin ya bud & soo glad to hear you survived. Your # just hadn't come up yet. I myself also had a close one with emergency gallbladder surgery. Doc said it was the worst she had ever seen. Bladder filled with pus & 6 marble sized stones. My # ain't come up yet either, come to think of it I don't have a number. heh heh he . Glad I didn't have to frame that that autographed wrist band.Take care & best of health to you my friend.

You very fortunate to have that happen in a large city.....as you know there are stretches of over 100 miles without even a gas station much less a hospital.
I've had that, too, and while I didn't pass-out, you are right on the edge of some serious stuff. Both times were in the desert and everything was "just fine" until everything goes to Hell...all in about five minutes.

Well....I'm so glad that we got to talk on the Salt. You are a real trooper to drive your toy all that way, troubles and all...yet you succeeded.
Yup....that's a real awakening when you have a brush with the "dirt nap".

Good for you.
You made it and made it home.
This joint wouldn't be the same without you, so the story ends well, but laced with way too much drama.

Lay low....rest and just count your blessings. If you had been out in the "sticks".......well.....it could have been tragic.

 

Glad to hear your ok. Heat stoke is nothing to take lightly. I'll be praying for
a complete recovery. Take it say for a while, it takes time to get over it.
