I have a 1964 Galaxie that was raced in the 1965 season. I am trying to recreate what the car looked like. I know it had OE chrome wheels in the rear.
My question is would they have still run pie crust slicks in 1965?

Not if they wanted to win.

I think that was a transitional year. Pie crust slicks early in the year and smooth sidewalls like the Good Years started popping up in mid or late '65.
