    Wow.
This show was even better than last year....
many said that was not possible.
    Well....
    it was.

For those that don't know - Cliffy aka Mike Rosenow has had some traumatic times this past summer.
His mom received some devastating news and within a few short months -passed away.
Timing for these types of things is never good....
but when trying to manage ALL the things that go into put on a top quality show like the Symco Shakedown - the hours of downtime are few.
Mike had to be there to help his family and we hope the last months with his mom were as good as they could be under the circumstances.

    The show itself was flawless.
This was a direct result of the support team that Mike has around him.
The Vagabonds were in full force this weekend and we need to thank them for all the hours they put in. Some even had little Vagabonds in tow and it made it all the more clear just how tight this group is.

At the main gate there was the mighty Jeff - who put in tons of time to make sure only the correct kind of cars were on the grounds and everyone I talked to seemed to understand exactly what the show is about.
Many of my customers came to me and stated they got turned away - but "kinda had a feeling they wouldnt make it in"....and they came anyway. So to the car owners that "get" what this show is all about - THANK YOU. And for those that actually took the time to make changes to their ride to actually be able to roll through - thank you as well.

Oliver Built Group is always a mainstay at the Symco Shakedown and this year was no exception. This is another family that has adopted Cliffy as their own. It seemed I never walked around when I did not see one of the group either running errands, manning a gate, or helping at the main info/merch table. These are a good group to have on your side Cliffy.

Tin Militia were there as well and even though there are only a handful of them in the CC - they too always seemed to be wearing the bright yellow green safety vests that adorn the volunteers......
obviously they put in way more than the typical 2 or three hour volunteer shifts.

The live radio announcer was all over the place....
the guys coordinating the mini bike drags did a great job wrangling all the bikes (it looked like they had DOUBLE the amount of bikes this year), those that managed the Pin up contest - another top notch presentation....and the bands - incredible.

Cliffy - I told you at the beginning of the show - there are a lot of people out here that love you.
This was seen in spades this weekend.

Keep on keeping on, and we will all continue to do the Shakedown in Symco.

Take some time - get some rest and hope to seeya at a show down the road.

    John Wells

  4. My 1st time there, and I'll be back. Great venue, well run by a good group of car folks. My time was limited, so I was only able to run up for the day. About 600 miles in the coupe, hang out with some cool cars and their owners, great day.

Got back from the Shakedown this afternoon. All the way home the wife and I talked about how the show gets BIGGER and BETTER every year. Our sincere thanks to Cliffie, his crew, the Vagabonds and all the volunteers for the GREAT job they did all weekend.

The weather was great, the food was super, the bands were fantastic and the most of all the people were the best.

On a side note I have to tell this story. The wife and I were in the Saloon listening to the GREAT Kevin Fayte and the Rock & Roll Trio. I hear this weenie complaining that his car didn't get in beacuse it had white lettered wide ovals on Centerlines (hey stupid..read the criteria or better yet pick up a copy of any 1950's/early 1960's Hot Rod, Rod & Custom or Car Craft magazine). But the best part is that the next thing he says is, "But they let that VooDoo Larry guy in with that Model A that has 18" and 20" wheels on it." DUH.....I was going to comment but the wife and I just looked at each other and smiled!

Soooooooo....see you all next year and keep supporting the shows we all need to support (Symco, Cheaterama,TorqueFest, Iron Invasion, etc etc.)

My first time there, and it will be a "Must See" for years to come. The food and refreshements were great, and for a family it was wonderful. It is nice when you can spend a day with the kids and afford to feed them every hour or so. Great food and cheap!!

Glad you enjoyed the Trio! We had a blast ourselves. You were the best, most responsive audience ever!

  13. Me and my son had a blast again. we worked our volunteer shifts at the front gate right next to VooDoo Larry and his wife. They are a great couple and he is an awsome car builder. The bands where all great. Thanks again for an awsome weekend Mike and we will see you next year!

I was going to go alone and volunteer. At the last minute my wife decided to come along, 150 miles one way. I couldn't believe it, she loved it. Even the mini-bike races. Everything was just wonderful. Prices were very reasonable, music was great, and the cars were sweet. My wife especially liked the tear drop trailers and period clothing. We'll be back next year, with a bunch of friends.

It was the first time my wife and I attended. We'll be back, just have to get my sedan done. Great show, great music and great people, can't ask for anything else.
Thanks to all that worked hard to put on an outstand event.

Had a great time at the show.
Talked to Voodoo Larry for about 5-10 mins about his car and other things. Looking forward to next year, not sure how it can get much better.
The weather was great and the PBR's were even better.
Thanks Cliffy for another great show.......

A HUGE thanks to Cliffy for inviting me back to be a part of this show. It is an honor to be involved with this event, and I am flattered. Thanks to the Vagabonds, Tin Militia, OBG, Rat Bastards, Black Widows, and especially the Thresheree group for all of their help and hospitality.

I also want to thank the minibikers and fans for your patience with the drags. We did have almost twice as many bikes, and we are already putting plans in place to put on a more efficient show next year.

Thanks, most of all, to all of you that came to support the show, and make it the best ever. Hope to see you next year!
