My goal is to capture the safety, drivability, and reliability of 20th century amenities in a car that drives and handles outstanding while maintaining the outwardly iconic look of a 32/33 Ford coupe. I’m 31 so I want a car that handles great that I can drive hard (not a show car). I’ve started drafting a .pdf of the spreadsheet I’ve started for parts (Speedway), vendors (Body and Chassis), pricing (comments have links or notes). I am sure I am not the first person to do this so rather than continue to recreate the wheel I was hopping to get some suggestions/insight.

If handling was a top priority what aftermarket chassis would you choose for a dream 32/33 3-window coupe build? I’ve been looking at the Kugel Komponetns IFS & 9’ IRS (http://www.kugelkomponents.com/ ) or Total Cost Involved Pro-Street Chassis ( http://www.totalcostinvolved.com/catalog.htm) and would love to pair a killer chassis with a complete Brookville ( http://www.brookvilleroadster.com/ ) steel body or real 32 3-windor coupe body. My second choose would be a Westcott (http://www.wescottsauto.com/ )glass body as they offer modern amenities as options.

How would you get the same results on a budget? Brookville bodies are amazing but out my reach. The same is true for a real Henry Ford 32 3-window body that wouldn’t require extensive 3rd party bodywork. Factory Five Racing 33 Hot Rod Kit ( http://www.factoryfive.com/order-a-kit/33-hot-rod-stage-1/ ) “Stage 1” includes a unique frame and suspension but is not compatible or true to the ionic Henry Ford. If the FFR 33 hot rod bodies came in bolt on paint free bodies (like their new 818 body) I might opt for this budget savvy build and hope for a future compatible steel body down the road. I looked at two ongoing FFR 33 builds this week. The fiberglass bodywork required is extensive. The included gas tank and fluid reservoirs should not be used and both folks encountered a number of challenges in their ongoing build. That being said, the kit does include a lot and is the most complete that I’m aware of excluding (www.speedway32.com). I was contemplating even doing an Ariel Atom type (open air) build with the “stage 1” until the seamless paint less bodies are offered. This would afford me a running drivable project and save the 12k plus on paint and 10-50k on a body until a better option is available. It seems like too many the kit cars are never completed due to time or cost. When I started to tally up with the build cost its no surprise.

Before I spend too many more countless hours planning and email vendors I was hoping some of the more experienced folks could provide some insight or share a build sheet or a similar project. If you prefer to contact me directly PM me for my email and or phone number. Thanks Joe

Joe, I got some bad news for you. What you want in a car goes totally against what this board is about. I applaud your ideas and your organizational skills but you will get all kinds of shit from the less tolerant members. Around here I've gotten grief because I believe in radials and disc brakes so that my cars drive decently and stop when I feel the need.

I would love to have a weekend pure Henry Ford but my budget and 2 car garage does not allow for it. I still have the itch for an adrenaline rush around the corners and the street/track. Thanks for the heads up. Any suggestions on another early Ford board but more race/track (modern tech) orientated would be great. I’ll repost my inquire to the Dogfight board.

Information request...I heard a rumor of a 3/4 scale '32 Ford Roadster (HARLEY motor). Can someone please direct me to a link/company?

I cant swing the total project cost I was researching previously.
