Chris, can you tell me what you've used for a radiator? Your top two tubes come straight out from the rad. I have an original '32 V8 rad and the top two come out angled down. If I attach hoses as is, they'll be sheared by the '39 style fan blade that I want to use. Any info would be appreciated.

 

Yep, that's the gas tank with the baffles inside.

This radiator is kind of an unique setup. It started as a 33' radiator. I had my radiator guy use the top and bottom tanks. He laid the top tank flat, and then soldered on the tubes on the face. The bottom tank is pretty much unaltered. Then he re-cored it with a new 4 core. He did a great job.

Jolly nice build,SFSS!! Been following it from the start. The return tube to the oil pan for the oil purifier system( a kool piece of kit!!) is a bit of a distraction for me! Couldn't you replace it with a cloth-covered tube like on the inlet side?

 

Ya, i'm going to try and figure out a good cloth line that I can replace that with. But for the mean time I'm just planning on opening the drivers side hood when I show people the engine. The passenger hood top doesn't hinge as far over as the drivers side does anyway. So it wants to fall back closed.

I got the gas tank welded up, and mounted in the back of the car.

A piece of asphalt loom would cover that hose nicely?

 

I got all the wiring done, got everything for the engine finished, and got it running yesterday!!! It was such an awesome experience to hear this beast come to life. All I have left is to button up all the bolts on the car, and install the windshield in the windshield frame and get it in the car. Then its on to running it up and down the street and trying to work out the bugs.

 

Bloody nice!!!

I had a blast taking her out on the salt. She seemed right at home there.

WOW Chris, a great finish to a great build. You are a very talented fellow!

 

Looks great, but you should build a cover for your oil/water separating device that mimics the cover of a voltage regulator, or perhaps something that mimics the oil filter housings often used on Flatheads.

Would help to hide the out-of-place "modern-ness" of the separator.

 

Very close to perfect - the only thing that sticks out is the rubber oil return line running so close to those hot headers. hmmm, burning hot headers, rubber oil line - that could never go wrong........... or could it??????
Please don't risk it - change it or wrap it or something to make sure that Murphy doesn't spoil your day.

Thanks guys, its been quite the journey to get to this point. I appreciate all your support and advice on this build.

I've still got plenty bugs to work out on the car. The brakes are giving me trouble getting all the air out. Not sure if its a bad master cylinder or just air trapped somewhere. And i'm needing to get one of those powergen's for the car. Cause I need that electric fan to run at full power to make sure to cool the engine. I'll be putting some of the high heat wrap on that oil hose to make sure it doesn't melt as well, thanks for the suggestion. As for the oil refiner, I plan on keeping it like it is mainly for my uncle's benefit. Cause its a good conversation starter, and I want to help him out as much as I can. Plus for the most part I will open the hood on the drivers side anyways, and you can't really see it from that side.

I'll be posting more of the final touches on the car so keep checking back guys, and hopefully some of my other builds will get your interest as well.
