Jack Cotten Thunderbolt modified magneto???

Hey does anyone have any info on these things? I tried to search it and nothing came up. This one has a steel base and what looks like a vertex aluminum body, vertex cap bolts right on. Trying to find out what the story is with these.

Jack Cotten had a few mods for the Vertex to increase output. I think he did the external coil change to the Vertex also.

 

anyone else? Surprised nobody has any other info.
