greetings Hambers, my computer illiterate friend Craig is heading Stateside for the American historical truck run along route 66 which commences on the 6th of September in Morris, Illinois & winds up in San Bernadino, Californi on the 13th of September. Are there any Hamb friendly rod runs / swap meets / events along this trail at the listed time frame which our friendly ambassador can attend.?

When I read the title I thought the next line was going to be " I like long walks on the beach." :D:D

In other words are you saying that your buddy who isn't in the habit of making an ass out of himself is headed over to do the truck event and are there any Hamb friendly if I read that right.

I'd say you think along the same lines that I do in that a guy is held responsible for the actions of those he brings along or sends along and introduces to the group.

But I'll agree that it comes off as a bit weird.

  8. I was expecting another one of those spams that have been so popular the last day or two.

Upon arriving @ Ellis Island he was greeted by an Eastern European with guttural voice and a long scar on his left arm. He was immediately whisked off to a rather seedy looking warehouse where his adventure was about to begin. . . :D

Me thinks the fellows tongue is firmly planted in his cheek, and the Personal Ad format is a bit of a spoof for a rather pedestrian request for information of auto related activities along his route. You guys got your knickers in a knot for naught.

  11. It's the "well trained" bit which scares the crap outta me. Heheh...like, as in well trained for what? I'd love to see what a well trained Australian gentleman looks like. Show us a picture!

Well trained is a euphamisim for KNOWS HOW TO USE INDOOR PLUMBING AND WHEN.

Could also refer to being able to pile all his empty beer cans and bottles in the same general area.

Sounds on the level to me even though it comes off as kind odd. I have an Ausie friend (thanks to Denise) and I can ensure you they don't talk like us!

  20. Can he start a month earlier and do the HAMB drags. Not far off the route. He could have Denise kick his ass on the drag strip like she did mine. Just a thought. I mean if he can afford to come stateside surely he could come over a little early.
    Later,
    Dick

o.k. Folks, my apologies if my request translated as a bit weird. Craig is an easy going (heterosexual...for those who wondered) regular guy. His ride is a cut down 5w flathead flathead propelled B coupe, '39 Ford Deluxe Tudor & '44 Indian Chief motosickle (sorry I can't provide fotos I as my computer skills are limited & i don't have Photobucket? account). Craig is keen to drop in any traditional type speedshops / runs & such. Any valid leads appreciated.

It might have been easier and a lot less humorous if you had just put.

Aussie traveling to states needs info on events along Route 66 between dates of __-__ and ________ .

This and bopwop's next post re: "poofter" seem offensive. I suppose the "thou dost protest too much I fear" quote is appropriate as well as telling?

"Does you're firend drink piss "simply means does he drink, not offensive at all. Poofter on the other hand is a bit rude but, I'm sure he'll get over it, you gotta love the Aussia slang, they have some "beauties"

  28. How about a crusty, unkept and socially unacceptable west coaster living in exile in the mid west. :D

    Rattlesnakehoey,

I have traveled the mother road several times in my short lifetime. Here is my best advice, just keep his eyes open, believe it or not there are plenty of car and bike museums along the route and they are all well advertised.

Can't give advise on car shows or cruises but I have never made the jaunt that I didn't run into some sort of local event along the way.

ahhh, now you have gone and taken all the fun out of it! I am expecting my longtime Aussie mates to show up in three weeks. They have indoctorinated me with their slang and even send me books of slang. No offense was meant, just trying to add a bit of drama. Cheers!

looks like it is in good nick.
